Alberts to A&M?!?!?!

I sure would like to hear the whole story. Going all the way back to Bo. Things have not been right for a long time. Get it out there for everyone to know why in the blue blazes have things been so bad.

Power play or not, you are either all N, or your not. This tells me even if he stays he's not all N. If he was he wouldn't be doing this to his Alma mater.
Sorry, SUH, but I strongly disagree.

If anyone shouldn't have to convince people he's "all N." its Trev Alberts. This is not about A&M and its not about money. It may end up with Trev going to A&M and pocketing all that money. But what this is really about is WHO IS RUNNING HUSKER FOOTBALL? Is it our AD who hired Matt Rhule? Or is it some hotshot new University President with a fancy background in football?

In a highly-political, highly-bureaucratic system like DONU, there comes a time when you need to have the guts to take a risk in order to protect your vision for your program. If you don't, it's bound to slowly get eaten away by the egoheads above you who don't have a frickin' clue.

We'll agree to disagree. I get the Regents are screwed up currently, and there's an interim President, but the fact he told nobody he was even talking to ATM tells me he wants out. No matter what the political climate is. Even if he stays, not sure anyone is really going to trust him at this point.

I mentioned in another thread that Trev may be making a power play here similar to what he did once upon a time at ESPN. He gambled and lost that time around. But, based on what I've been seeing in Huskerland this past year, Alberts has a STRONG HAND to push this time around. He's essentially saying to the Board of Regents, 'it's my way or I'm outta here.'

My reaction to that? YOU GO TREV! We need you to win this one.
My feeling, and hope, is that is just a power play. I've always felt that TA was Husker Red through and through. I really don't want him to go to A&M FFS.

GO BIG RED!!!

Yep

It's a rarity for a professional in higher education to talk about a job search they're in until the hiring authority asks the candidate asks permission to speak to their boss. In this case, I would bet the farm that A&M sought out Trev (via headhunters) rather than the other way around. (Same with the Admiral.)

WAY too often, bosses don't take too kindly to job hunters on their staff. They often view it (as you do) as an act of disloyalty. That's why I found the Matt Rhule approach with Tony White so refreshing. Do you think that White is more or less loyal to Coach after this offseason's job search? Sadly, I'm afraid the Rhule approach tends to be the exception to the rule.

Regardless, if i the previous November said after I received my new raise and contract without me asking for it which is what Trev said, then go on to say that I don't want to be anywhere else. And a head hunter comes calling, I'm going to immediately shut them down. Period.

I am making a rumor up that there is a guy that they want to hire to replace TA and his initials are SF and he was a very winning QB here at DONU back when we were champions. Comes cheap and we are already paying him a boat load.

Wait to soon?
Perfect, absolutely perfect!

Just the right amount of levity for this afternoon!
