Who is Going to be the QB Next Year

Damn it, ATX. Come on, man. This video you posted got me a little too jazzed up for late June. :D

To me, there's a wide spectrum when it comes to RPO quarterbacks. Nebraska fans are used to running QBs who can also throw a decent ball. The thing I like about Colandrea is that he's a traditional passing QB who can also run and escape the rush when he has to.

IMO, Anthony's style puts A LOT more pressure on a defense. Me thinks our offense is gonna surprise a lot of people this fall--especially our own fans.

Yep the upside is great and I believe we will be much more dynamic offensively this year.
Just be prepared for the occasional interception that will deflate some moments. I can live with that.

Hold on a second here....you mean it's okay for the QB to actually scramble and gain yards and occasionally make some contact?

Wow, who woulda thunk it? ;)
We're used to an RPO that's the run first type. The problem with that is when your QB is getting bruised and battered as the season progresses and then elite defenses scheme to force that QB to beat them with his arm. As I painfully recall, that never worked out well for us.

Back in the day, Joe Kapp and Fran Tarkenton were not "running QBs" but they consistently used their legs to scramble for first downs or extend plays to free up receivers. Hell, Patrick Mahomes does that too. We got smitten comparing DR's arm to Mahomes. Patrick does have an elite arm--but if you look back at the Chiefs' success in big games, his legs have often been the X-Factor.

Until we see Colandrea play in Husker Red, the jury's out. I recognize that. But in all honesty, I'm more optimistic with the prospect of AC under center this fall than I would've been with Raiola returning.

AC will have 2 more years under the new NCAA 5-year eligibility plan.....

That initially sounds like good news, but I am wondering how it will affect TJ Lateef and Trae Taylor? Do we lose one, or both, of them to the Portal?

No impact on Trae IMHO. TJ....maybe. Depends on what AC decides to do after this season...because let's be honest. If we are another Rhule .500 team......the chance to play somewhere that wins AND pays the same/better NIL is going to be there. Any whiff of AC transferring for his 5th year - TJ will still be here.

I thought I read that it wasn't grandfathered in for those graduating in 2026. Presumably AC won't graduate until 2027.

I thought the new 5 year thing wasn't grandfathered? Maybe I'm missing something?

I'd like some clarification from Rhule and Co.

I'm confused too. I thought this year's crop of fourth-year players weren't grandfathered.

For those questioning how AC will do lined up against a B1G defense he looked pretty good in that clip vs Maryland and last time I checked...

Also, have you guys seen AC at press conferences where he's wearing shorts and a t-shirt? Dude looks like he's built like a brick sh^^house. He looks like he's built more like a RB or LB.
