Mike'L getting real about Frost on twitter

I made a comment in the Dylan Raiola thread about how Frost blew that. I left some of the more sensational details out because I didn't want people to instantly discount the post. I don't have a doubt that the full account is true, I am sure it will come out at some point.

I heard from some people in and around the area there was a gambling issue as well. Like you said, this stuff doesn’t stay silent…it will all drop at some point. If true, it sounds as if Scott needs to focus on himself for a while. Could be a Steve Sarkesian similar situation.

You could see the changes in him over the past 4+ years since he came to Lincoln. He is not in a good place and was headed down a path of destruction. You can say what you want about the pressures of the job but there are plenty of coaches who are under just as much pressure who do not fold but they find a way to succeed. His priorities and personal choices were a large part of his undoing. The good news for him is that unlike you and I he is collecting millions of dollars for getting fired. He has the luxury of taking time off to focus on fixing those personal issues and getting his life (and maybe his career after that) back on track. He is still young, this does not have to be the end of his story he still has time to turn it around and write an incredible comeback story. As Huskers we are all rooting for him to do just that.

I really hope that this was an exaggeration. The kind of unprofessionalism described is unforgivable for such a high profile job.

Sounds like SF was waaaaayyy over is head at UNL, money says things like alcohol, marital problems, drug abuse, side poon will start working their way into the untold story portion of this firing!

Regardless of how mad you are about the 4.5yrs, SF is still a Nebraskan and won us a NC therefore I personally would hate to see his total demise only to become a statistic in some newspaper article.

Well, there've been rumors out there from early on in his tenure. First, I just passed them off as your typical social media/ rumor mill BS. But they continued and some of them were coming from folks inside North Stadium. That's when I started paying attention.

But they were never appropriate to be spreading here, particularly when it's gossipy type stuff. But it was one of a whole bunch of things (Numero Uno: His pathetic W/L record at Nebraska) that troubled me about keeping him last season.

At the time, I took the University's announcement as a subtle indication that Scott had 'gotten his act together' and was ready to step up and show his total commitment to his job. I was happy to get back onboard the Frost train and was super-excited about this season.

But the beginning of Fall Camp made it crystal clear Frost still had issues -- and those indications came long before the Northwestern game outcome for observant fans who were paying attention. The bad thing is that it's still icky and awkward to bring up. The good news is that it could mean that we don't need to start all over again if Coach Joseph can unify and provide some real leadership to this group of talented, young men.

My sister just text me a doozy of a story when I sent her that Mike L video from a personal friend of hers and some stories about her time in Lincoln…She was there while Scott was. I’ll say this, where there is this much smoke there’s usually a fire. I hope Scott can overcome anything personally bothering him. Sometimes money can make things worse.

The guys on Unsportsmanlike Conduct were asked about this, Josh basically said "why do you think I picked Nebraska to finish 5-7?"

Sadly there will likely be at least a small segment of the fanbase that will forever believe Scott was treated unfairly.

I would punch Matt Davidson right in the face if I saw him on the street - he sold his soul that Frost was the answer and could not have been more wrong. He should be banned from Nebraska athletics for life.

Even worse, Davison was paid well to be little more than a friend and enabler of Scott. If Scott was hitting the bars, odds are that Matt was right there with him.

They're both complete embarrassments. Neither should be welcome near the football program again.

There is a reason they gave up 7.5 million instead of waiting 3 weeks. It was clearly an issue where the program was teetering on implosion.

I agree - the media attention around the OU game was going to be an issue as well - fixed by firing Frost ahead of the game.

I'm guessing the full payout involved some commentary along the lines of stay the hell away from here, keep your mouth shut, and preferably leave town soon and not come back.
