Mike'L getting real about Frost on twitter

It seems like when a coach is fired everyone has to demonize the guy to make it be the right decision beyond the win/loss record. I call BS on a lot of what I'm reading and hearing.

To the contrary, I think this fanbase is more interested in moving than any point since 1997. There might be a tiny percentage of people that want to relitigate the Frost end, but it is a miniscule group.

However, and this is a big damn however, there needs to be an accounting of the people affiliated with the program in positions of power who helped with the rumored behavior. That, absolutely, cannot be swept aside.

No doubt there needs to be accountability from those in power. I'm just a bit frustrated that the wolves always come out when a guy gets fired. Example: claiming drug use and hookers. It seems like those things are the typical claims when a guy gets fired.

I don't doubt Frost messed up recruiting Dylan R. or he may have arrived late to practice a few times. In 5 years of working at a job being late is a very real possibility.

Fair enough. He failed. I’m fine with that…dissecting why really doesn’t matter.

If Frost was so horrible as some say. Trev should have never said all the nice things he said about Frost but most of all should have never let him talk to the team after being fired.

The drug use and hookers thing was a complete joke on my part from the movie Bachelor Party

Alberts said what he said to make the train wreck go away. Keep picking at the scab and you might not like what you get.

If Frost fanboys want to debate his termination, they will most certainly get a expose they aren't looking for.

I don't think I'm being a fanboy. I'm just relating the typical rumors that go along with the firing of a HC. Listening to Mickey gives us a better idea as to what went wrong. It looks to include a poor structure such as having the typical 2 DB coaches and not doing enough live tackling etc...

I think it would have been a horrible misstep for TA to not say nice things about SF. He is still a native Nebraskan who won a title as the starting QB. Giving him the cold shoulder, or even worse, kicking him when he’s down, would be a petty reaction.

I completely don’t get why he shouldn’t have been able to talk to the team one last time.

Just a general comment.

The head coach must be the most demanding of all. There can't be people around trying to keep him on task. Frankly that's a ridiculous situation.

I posted my feelings on the situation prior to the season. While I really hoped this would work there is nothing historical that shows success coming from forcing a coach to make changes.
You think anyone had to call around trying to find Devaney or Osborne?
No, head coach is the man. If not he has little chance to succeed.

If SF was such a bad person off the field then Trev should not have let him talk to the team. IMO

MRJFB- I totally agree the HC needs to be the most demanding person of all coaches and nobody should need to hold his hand to make sure he is doing basic things. However, if a new HC needs to learn some things then he needs to learn some things. There is nothing wrong with learning new things and help should be given. HC's should be willing to always learn new stuff. At some point he either does the things discussed on his own or he doesn't. At that point he needs to be fired.

If I take a job as high profile as Scott Frost…I’m all in.

I’m actually in the running for a Program Director Position at a College in Texas(still finding my way)

It will be demanding, people are sending me their kids, my job is to train them as Technologists and make them better productive citizens. I take that very serious.

I failed a lot in the Navy…But it succeeded a lot too and listened to my Mentors.

Both my daughters are in…One was always great at everything. The other was always struggling to find her way…Guess which one is doing the best? One expects it to be easy and the other embraces hard work and struggle. I told my oldest, they will not let you be perfect because no one is.

I really think Frost just expected wins to happen without detailed work. The more that gets tossed at you…The more you have manage and lead.

I don’t know what he was thinking…I wish I could talk to him.

Now Mickey is the Head Coach…He comes across better prepared. He seems hungry too.

I gotta back this guy.

I agree to a certain extent, and I certainly don't want to hear unsubstantiated stories about his extracurricular activities.

But I do think it matters that he was being paid millions and not setting the example he was preaching about attention to detail, being nice to the cafeteria workers, etc. Remember all that? At one point he went on an extended discussion of doing every little thing the way you should, down to the smallest details.

If he's late and not making the recruiting rounds, that plays a role in the lack of fundamentals we have seen on the field (I'm so sick of 1st and 15, for example) These are impressionable young people who are big and tough physically but might have the emotional maturity of a 15-year-old. If a 15-year-old is told to clean his room but his parents never clean the rest of the house, he learns it doesn't really matter.

If Frost wasn't doing what he was paid to do and the powers that be allowed him to get away with that for nearly 5 years, then at the end of this season some other heads need to roll too.

I think you bring up interesting points. My daughter was up there and I pulled her out…COVID has some part of that but honestly the feedback about her professors and their “woke” agenda was the final nail. I’ll catch heat on this but I’m just being honest. Now she joined the Navy and they get straight to the point on learning and training.

Does the Institution even care about the Program?

So, we are calling Trev Alberts a liar. He said Scott worked his tail off to win and did everything he could. He said he loves Frost etc... If that is not the case all he has to do is stick to the facts and point to the win loss record.

I get your point Sgt, but remember there is also a political component to everything that comes out of South Stadium. Trev is a professional all the way and would never throw Frost under the bus no matter how true the bad accusations were because all that would do is create an even greater media circus.

So Trev did the coach speak thing and gave Scott praise to avoid a circus.

And to the point of those wondering, like King Theoden,

How did it come to this?

...I am reminded of what happened at Penn State under Joe Paterno. Want to be clear, what happened at PSU was 100x worse, just using that example to make a larger point.

Sports, particularly football, and especially college football, is the ultimate tribal affiation, almost a cult. Those of us in the tribe or cult will often look the other way because we don't want to do anything to hurt the team. And so some become enablers because they think they're protecting what they love, when in reality, they're doing the opposite.

Frost is gone, but (and I cannot believe I am saying this) the wreckage he left behind (like Pelini) may take years to clean up--if it ever gets cleaned up at all.

It seems like when a coach is fired everyone has to demonize the guy to make it be the right decision beyond the win/loss record.

This has been our history, altho' some former coaches seemed to invite the demonizing...

I thought TA said he and others left the room after they announced the decision to the team. They let SF have say whatever he chose to say...

Did I misunderstand?

My comment was in response to post #46 by Sgt. Red, not what actually transpired.
