Who still has confidence in this staff?

Yup he was coaching UCF and we lost a number of Riley recruits but he did make a whirlwind recruiting binge. At some point in time, we have to say enough is enough. That time is now. In my mind, this is cycle #2-1/2 and I'm rounding it to 3. 2 years from now, I don't want people to be saying "He still has only had 3 classes, just a little more time." If Frost is any kind of a coach, he will find a way to make this thing work. He has 2 more years, max, to get it together and if he doesn't, I expect to hear about the Cable Guy installing for the next coach. I hope Frost gets it together but 4 years will be more than enough time, IMO.
I dont argue that at all. I think he will have 5 years minimum but yep I even think next year should be a "get to a good bowl" year. I think we should be shooting for a minimum of 8 wins next year and by year 4 we should be challenging for a shot at the CCG.

Actually 2 1/2. The first one was a combo of his and Riley's recruits.
I said that in another post. I recognize that officially it's probably 2-1/2. I'm calling it 3 because I don't want another year of crappy excuses if year 5 we're still tanking. At that point it will be blatantly obvious that it's a coach issue - whether that be not being able to recruit or not being able to coach in the B1G.

I'm kind of a hard ass I guess.

I really thought we would be at least 7 and 8 if the football Gods were kind. I'll probably be hoping for 6 next year and ecstatic if we get more than 6.

The play calling really was a head scratcher.

I don't know why things suck so bad. I don't believe the staff is as dumb as some want to make them out to be.

As I've said before, I remember people losing their minds over T.O.'s play calling as well. Do you remember how we bitched about running the ball up the middle over and over even though it didn't produce much in the first half? Remember how we thought he was an idiot for running the option to the short side of the field?

Turned out there was a method to his "madness."

I don't know. Maybe there's a plan we don't see. Maybe they're idiots. Maybe we all need something good to happen to DONU for once.

If anyone believes that Nebraska has the players in place to win games against ranked teams or really good teams, then you have lost all rationality and reason. Nebraska's talent level is abysmal. As I've said, they have some decent players, even future stars, but they have too many average college football players. Bowl games and practices won't cure that.
If we had won all 6 close games you wouldnt be saying the same thing about our talent level. We arent at the Alabama level by any means but we have some pretty dang good players on this team. We just dont have enough with experience but we are getting there.

I remember the TO days clearly. Yes, 1st half we would be yelling at the TV or radio big time. He was wearing out the "D" and 2nd half, they were tanked and we ran over them at will.

Problem is, if that is what Frost is aiming for, it's not working. Dunno.

Not working . . . yet? I dunno either. Maybe things will turn with personnel changes? It's ugly right now.

Not really, but it does come down to level of success.
If we see glimpses of Big championships, more time for me.

"IF " is the difference in talented football teams with talented players and where Nebraska is right now. Winning 6 close games didn't happen because of "IF". Of course the Huskers have some talented players, they just don't have enough of them. They also don't have an experienced "winning" QB. (yet)

Well technically in year 4 he should pretty much have mostly his guys. I'd say at least 90%. That would give him 2 more recruiting class (2020 & 2021). If after 2021 we are no better than we are now, then as much as it pains me to say, we may need to look for other options. That being said, we have to be careful though because if Frost does get fired no one worth their salt is ever gonna want to coach at Nebraska.

3 plays total go differently in 3 other games before Iowa and we have 8 wins. 3 freaking plays go differently and we have 8 wins. That's how close we are.
We might be 3 plays away from 8 wins, but in my opinion, we are further than 3 plays from being a good team. We are further than 3 plays from being a team that executes consistently.

That being said, 8 wins might create some momentum that leads to us becoming a good team.

Right now, we are a sad team. I hope we can find what we need to be a team worth watching again.

I agree, but most of the issue is the lack of depth and talent. Frost R/S most of his first true recruiting class. There will be a lot of young players playing next year but man they are talented and will provide depth. Yes his coaching has been head scratching at times, but even I'll say this, AM shouldn't have to be told not to run out of bounds. He should know that. He is playing big time college ball. The game is tied and the worst that will happen is you go to OT. The only time he should be running out of bounds is if he gets us into or are already in FG range. At some point these guys have to play smart. If every time a coach has to call a time out to remind his players of this fact then it's not a coaching issue. However knowing it might be an issue, it's always better to err on the side of caution to remind them so we do goto OT.

Yeah. At this level, the coach shouldn't have to wipe each player's butt for them.

This team is going to the Pinstripe Bowl with Martinez as QB. Will Frost make the hard decisions that championship coaches make?

I don’t think he will.
