Who still has confidence in this staff?

Definitely can regain confidence in him but he has to look at himself as much as he does his players and fellow coaches. I believe he’s coaching scared to lose (since coming to Lincoln he’s somehow developed a fear of failure). Maybe he doesn’t want to let TO down or something.

On play calling, I’ve yet to speak to a Husker fan who understands why he keeps running those swing passes and screen passes, although the screen passes worked much better when it wasn’t Martinez running the offense. It’s almost as if he’s trying to emulate TO hammering the run game at our opponents knowing it would eventually wear them down and those plays would start being incredibly successful. Well that doesn’t work with swing passes!
I agree with every word except we are talking about next year, this ones already on the books. If changes are not made, there will be no year 4 IMHO. I do not believe Frost can make the changes he cannot even change an ineffective QB.

It's called a spread offense. Reading their reactions on those wr screens is one part, coaches see how they react, so, it does set up other things.
Spread em out, make those safeties have to defend the entire field, get them if not looking,at least thinking wide.
Those two things are my first thoughts of why we saw so much.
Parker at iowa is a very very good DC, and this helps going forwards, not just last game, as its all on tape now.

Trying to be objective with HCSF, there is some truth in the fact that he deserves time to mature into his position. Leaving UCF to NU is a huge step up in terms of expectations and fan pressure. There have been many a junior person assuming a leadership role as President or CEO and it took them time to mature into the position only to have good things happen down the road. I think its more of him upgrading his coaching staff than him as a poor coach. His coordinators are sub par, what worked at UCF does not work in the B10. B10 football which has its fair share of RPO’s and Spread offenses is still considered very physical and less finesse than other conferences. I hope he has the moxie and ability to make the tough decisions in terms of doing what’s best for the program and what we all want...winning. Should next year be another 5-7 or 6-6 year, same ol AM2, same ol shoddy mistakes, same ol poorly prepared team then he will lose the Nebraska faithful!!
He had a lot better players at UCF than here.

If they were trying to set something up, like Millen speculated about as he was dumbfounded with those swing passes and you mention, they never used it.

Notice our qb runs werent just power, but off tackle, where you have to sell the safeties enough to interfere with them.
Thats one play called several times, plus it helped with roll outs, as our trips would clear, then AM threatened the rpo, still leaving those safeties on a limb.
Execution in all phases werent great, but, it was iowa, and,we arent quite there yet.

They react by blowing up the play for a loss. Frost reacts by running the damn thing 20 more times.

Frost is going to get the time. Moos made that abundently clear when Frost's contract extension was announced. If we do not see a marked improvement next season, I am going to be extremely concerned because Frost will have 3 recruiting cycles under his belt -- more than enough time to have recruited players.

Frost and staff are young coaches. I'm hoping they spend some of the off season reflecting on changes they need to make as coaches to improve our program. If they don't, nothing is going to change. I want Frost to succeed here; in order for that to happen, Frost needs to make some changes within himself. As well as needing time and players. Just my opinion.

Actually 2 1/2. The first one was a combo of his and Riley's recruits.

Well they did fight back from a huge deficit only to have the coach toss it down the drain

And had that same team not allowed yet another KOR for a TD and the offense basically not executing in the first half, we win going away. We have a depth issue and a lack in talent issue. Those were a direct effect of Riley. Yes Frost has made some boneheaded coaching decisions, but so did TO at times during his coaching career.

What I like is, this staff will grow and change.
Everyone forgets how much, like just throwing the ball away, second half and or in game adjustments, where we hadnt seen any in the last two staffs.
Now, the previous also claimed they made them, then went on to say they werent the ones playing the plays.
While this staff has somewhat gone there, by saying good enough isnt good enough, same players, less overall talent, and, arguably the talent on hand isnt as good of fits compared to the last two staffs, we, the fans have at least recognized some adjustments, positive ones, and to me, have gotten much more of talent on hand than either the previous two staffs.
Theres other examples, but again, I point to our special teams as to just how thin and in some places, just missing out on talent.
