EDIT: Martinez' Knee

I was telling you all that with the guys we have in Lincoln right now....not next year......this team has the opportunity right in their own hands to really shock a lot of people and bring back old dusty memories of 3-400 yard rushing performances and what's really cool is we have no less than 5 ....seriously 5 guys combined who at any moment can bust out of their shell and rush for that much themselves....!......
Our O line is deep and good enough to be the beginning of familiar days of pipeline bull dozers.....clearing the way leaving crushed, beaten and worn out defenses in it's wake.....they just have to believe they can do it......they Got to believe that nobody is gonna stop them......they gotta take their frustrations from the past few years of being held back, under manned or out coached out on the defensive lines of EVERY TEAM THEY FACE EACH WEEK FROM HERE ON OUT......I KNOW THESE GUYS CAN DO IT......THEY CAN BE THE ONES WHO SET THINGS BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK...... WINNING TROPHIES INSTEAD OF SITTING HOME WATCHING OTHER TEAMS DO IT ......TRUST ME HERE IF FARMER OR FOSTER CAN FIND AND USE THAT WHAT EVER IT IS THAT MOTIVATES THEM EITHER GUY COULD BE THEE GUY THAT WINS THE OUTLAND TROPHY.......THEY BOTH HAVE THE TALENT AND ABILITIES.....THEY JUST GOT TO BELIEVE !......WE have no fewer than 3 true running backs that can make life for Taylor in wanna be NEBRASKA Cheese head land's life miserable.....they could start right now and find that extra little something that gets them All Big 10 ......all they gotta do is BELIEVE.....ITS AS EASY AS THAT...... HONEST IT IS.

Look don't think for a split second that what happened to AMart hasn't scared Frost.....he knows that having Martinez under Center is a luxury and since we have so many other offensive weapons......the chances to make a statement is gonna be there......the one snap of the ball that triggers something special inside any of the guys I have made mention of....Bell, Washington and Ziggy.....that guy just now looks like the guy I always thought he could be.....and he knows it.....you can see it when he moves the pile of 3-4 defenders hanging on him and he is doing that on his own.....out of shear will and strength.....new found strength too by the way......we all saw what I've been going on about against Colorado ...... Frost and his Staff have a plan and it works......what's best is they have tweeked it right into what I like to think Nebraska would have evolved In to had we not been forced to abandon what we all knows works here, to try failed attempts at making us into something we just could never be with the players available to us.....this is NEBRASKA......not Calibraska......not Florida.....and it sure as hell ain't Texas......this is down and dirty in your face tough guy football....we play with our hands in the dirt and guys who can block and run the damned ball even if the other guy knows exactly what were going to do........This Ain't no Pro Style WCO......this is fast, tough hard hitting football and NO BODY DOES IT BETTER THAN WE DO.......

NOW GO BIG RED DAMNIT....!
ONE GAME AT A TIME.....WE GET BETTER AND STRONGER EACH GAME.....

Doc.

I just got up and ran into a wall. Was trying to go thru it though.

I'm not only trying to get everybody back on track here but see that if Bunchie is the guy the world ain't gonna end.....and even with Martinez in there we have a good enough line and a really nice group of difference makers that we can throw or hand the ball off to......
Bunch is a better than Average back up and honestly has the skill set to be a starter at a power 5 program if he were not here......so we don't need to panic or be worried.
Even if Martinez does play this week vs Troy.....and every game from here on out....the nice thing is it kinda forced Scott to see that having Martinez in there should be handled perhaps a bit different......use the other nice size bunch of playmakers.....get them going now.....get them into the flow of things and let them do what they were brought here to do.

Case in point.....Greg Bell #25.....The #1 Juco running back in the country last year.....
Yes he fumbled the ball off the bat but as the game wore on.....you could just see and feel he was about to explode.....in a good way.....I went and watched as much of his game film from last year as I could find on the net and it's plain to see the guy on film and the guy playing for us now is different....we got a glimpse of him is all last Saturday.....you could see his confidence grow Everytime he touched the ball after the fumble......and I believe had he got used more in the 4th qtr .....and he was hitting the hole like he was last year in Juco....him getting run down by Colorado's guys only because they are REALLY FAST in there secondary true but they both had to take the right angle to do so....I believe had they been chasing Bell in his footsteps the story would have been very different.
Before I get too far off the path here you can see where this can be looked like a blessing in Disguise for us.....not having the luxury forces you to use your other strengths.....and thankfully on Offense.....we have a nice bunch of really talented playmakers......now let them go make plays and do what it is we All know they can do......

Go Big Red !

If AM doesnt play, he does lose that growth in the system, but expanding and perfecting it with the rest of our guys gets them further down the road, and when AM does return, he will catch up fast.
We havnt even seen Miles Jones yet, plus Woodyard, and SF wanted to use his TEs more as well.
Good thoughts Doc, we can fill the whole field with playmakers, we need to use them

Val old Buddy,
I agree he needs rest but he also needs to play to fix his freshman mistakes before the Meechicken game.....they do have a NFL caliber D front that if playing right can stuff the run.....if motivated ......and if they are on their game.
That being said old buddy he had some early 2 ND 1/2 calf cramps that was causing him to limp.....a quick IV would have fixed that if done at half time....young guys get so excited they forget to hydrate and stay balanced throughout the game and the 1/2 is when they used to try and monitor that stuff even more so if it was really hot or humid....and while it wasn't bad hot it was humid so that is just as bad.

Hope to catch up with you if you make it back this season for a home game be sure and holler bud.

Doc n Kate.
This is what I'm in agreement on. If he is hurt he doesn't play. If he is cleared by medical staff we need him to play to get the reps. Just holding him out precautionary so that he is 100% for Michigan is not the solution at this point. That would be no different than holding him out against Illinois because we play Michigan State the next week. This needs to be a medical decision.

Given that the team played pretty well the first time out, I'd like to see as many guys get on the field as possible. We'll need depth as the season rolls on. This is not saying anything new.

I feel good about Bunch, we'll come to love this young man.

We're going to thump Troy. Take NU and give the points. Like Warner Wolf would say... "If you took Troy and the points...You Lost!"

My point exactly.....if he is medically cleared and there is no danger to his knee....he really needs the experience.....that was evident as with all true freshman there is growing pains and mistakes to be made and learned from....I do not recall a freshman playing at any position who doesn't make and or learn from mistakes....(in my case I never saw the field till my Sophomore year and by then I had made PLENTY of mistakes on the scout team and in practice...but it was also in practice that I got noticed for my attitude and work ethic.....next thing you know I was on the Kick coverage team and that's where I started to have everything start to really click.....like seeing plays develope in my head based on how the other team lined up.....this is where the mental part and real film study comes in handy.....if you can disect a play on the screen by the formation and understand the variations off that play by what personnel they have......your 10 steps ahead of the other guy....Super Mario was the best at that I ever saw.....he was like the rain man of formation recognition....it was actually kinda scary......how he could rattle off who was gonna be where and doing what way before the snap of the ball....and if the QB would check out a d call a base play because of what he saw from us..... Mario would know what he was checking into by the shift if any and he could bait a QB into doing just that and he knew right where to go at the snap to blow that play up.....it was like watching a guy kick a video games butt.....the stuff he could do.....that's where he got the name Super Mario.....not because of his real first name.....but because he made Video Game like moves......

Anyways.....back on topic here.....to sit Martinez is the wrong call if he is fit to play......playing him smart now is a different thing.....and that's what will happen if he is cleared....oh and I was told that the O linemen got the message about protecting your QB the entire time he is on the field......not just during plays....but before and after as well...part of their job is to protect the QB from the time he steps on the field till the final whistle blows......and after all the crap that happened this last Saturday....."they got the message loud and clear" is what I was told just a little bit ago......I was also told that things went SUPER GOOD at this mornings practice......and all that implies....Very crisp.....very focused ......are words that were used an I like to hear that.

I thought AM looked remarkably calm and poised (I'm sure he'd love to have that one throw back that was picked off) for a freshman running the offense. The team looked definitely quicker than last year to me. Hopefully, it's minor and AM can be back soon.

Martinez did look good back there. My only critique would be that he holds on to the ball a little too long. But, I'm sure the coaches were working on that during the first practice this week. Martinez didn't throw many ugly balls, and just think what his stats would have been if his receivers didn't drop some......I'm looking forward to the next 3-4 years with him at the helm.... :happydance:

Just heard from a buddy who is in the unfortunate position of being in the know with the PAC 12 and they and CU's head coach have issued a statement they will not pursue any further action against #44 Collier who was the scumbag twisting Martinez's Knee. The Big 10 has of yet issued any statement.

This is total equine fecal matter ......how many freaking views of that Butt hat twisting the hell out of Adrian's knee do they have to see to admit it's time to discipline that guy.....I haven't checked to see if he is a Senior but Man alive I hope he is still there come next season.......the linemen I played with.....well let's just say this.....he would be peeing like a puppy for a month ......lol

That's it I'm done now......if no one is going to do anything about it....hopefully we will see that kid next year in Boulder.

That's no secret. It was stated officially earlier and one of the Colorado news sites posted it overnight.
