WHY oh WHY Shotgun on 4th & inches?

Here’s my question— with the rule change that allows players to push the ball carrier, why not line up two tackles behind the ball carrier and ensure he ends up in the end zone

GBR
Exactly, but ya know, AM was hurt and maybe he did not want to reinjure that ankle. Something was up because AM did not run on Sat

Frost would be a much better fit in the Pac 12 or Big 12 IMHO - but he is closer to Mike Riley than Pete Carrol in terms of skill level as a coach......he'd win games but not win championships.

I personally don't think Frost would do well in either conference.
Such a shame because he can build a program. But on gameday he
simply belongs in mid majors where the competition isn't so tough each week.

He is a losing coach because;
1. he has a ****** offensive scheme
2. he will not commit to evolving or at least adjusting

Oregon was able to establish a spread run first offense - Frost helped with that. I think that can work in the Big 10 (OSU does it) but you have to have the players and coaches to do it.

He has been unable as head coach to replicate Oregon's O at Nebraska. Combo of bad recruiting decisions and his offensive assistants. There also is something not quite right with culture/game day "winner's attitude".

Trev is facing a tough decision. Firing is going to hurt (T.O. among those against it). But continuing to be a losing program will kill the golden goose. Hopefully they get the hire right - but clearly between the decision makers and those interested.......we've struggled to get it right post T.O.

For 1, you have to have 7 on the LOS I believe, and 2, how about the OL just do their job?

B1G teams run hybrids of the Duck Spread. I am not against that but I am for an offense that promotes the run which the spread does not. When Justin Fields ran the OSU spread, he was not even close to being the team leader in rushing. The kid there now has 17 yds for the season.

One of the few aspects of our offense that works is the option. We only have one play that they use to the left or right. I have said this over and over without the threat of a running game Frost's O will not work. He has said as much on numerus occasion. That should have been priority one when he got here.

That is because he has the wrong coach in charge for starters. If you read the article you would know the shotgun which our boy AM2 is in every down, or a version of it, is not a great set for running the ball. Could be the reason our boy fumbled and stumbled last week. If he want to hand of the ball and he is under center the RB has a full head of steam without trying to find the hole and grab the ball. His MO is for the QB always to have the threat of running the ball and a smart coach like PJ takes advantage, ergo the 3 wins straight over us. Frost does the same thing the same way all the time. PJ defended the option pretty well I thought. I might add the FUMBLE against MU could have been avoided had he only wanted the one yard, once again our slow blinker, blinked slowly.

With a QB and 2 linemen in the backfield, that leaves 8 to put on the LOS--if my math is correct

You may be on to something here Storm. As awful as our pass pro is maybe this will work on every passing down. 2 slots on LOS, 2 wide outs, 6 interior lineman and 2 lineman in the back field to help with protection. Boom

GBR[/Qkiller.

You must have 7, no more no less... I believe. Hell, the rules and formations change so much, I don't know anymore.

Someone smart in here knows.

Anymore I just watch. Not particular about the formations. But I do like the 2 OL theory.

I've asked this question at least once a season for a decade or more. WHY WHY WHY would you snap the ball back to the 5 yard line when you're fourth and INCHES??!??! With a QB of Martinez's size and strength, a QB sneak is a NO-BRAINER.

I'm no D1 head coach making 6 million, but I'm pretty damn sure I'm right about this one.

Anyone see the end of the Buffalo/Tennessee game last night— just saying
