Who still has confidence in this staff?

The game management issues need to be addressed - quite possibly by coaching changes.

I don't see Frost just riding the 2AM train after this season - I think Ohio is right - 2AM had some injury issues but I think now that teams have alot of game film on him the ceiling is not that high - he has a limited skill set to read defenses, is not as accurate as he needs to be, and is a good not great running threat. Frost has to get QB right next season even if it means 2AM enters the transfer portal after fall camp is wrapped up. I really don't care what he does because bottom line is we have to play better at QB to win games and Frost has to win. 3 loosing seasons in a row? We don't kindly to that around here. 5-7 or worse next season and Frost will be fired or there will be significant changes on his staff - including all buddy hires getting canned.

He cant keep telling the players they have no talent and then expect them to play their hearts out for him on Saturday. They read the papers or the internet like the rest of us.
I quite agree. I've been bitching about that, along with the "his" players bullshit. Not the marks of a great leader. Hoping that Frost stops that.

And saying these things don't mean we don't want Frost to succeed or are bad fans or whatever, quite the opposite.

If it's totally on him, I guess he doesn't need assistants.

The 3-4 sux azz for one, IMO, and Chins didn't put ANY pressure on Stanley all frigging game for two, and DeWitt's STs is the worst NU has had in God knows how long.

That time management thing people want to blame SF on was all AM for going out of bounds.

What SF mostly needs to own is not playing McCaffrey.

SF gambles on 4th downs when he's within FG range, he should gamble with going with a guy that doesn't hesitate to take action. That's not AM; he hangs onto the ball, and hangs onto the ball....next thing you know, it's 2nd and 12/14/17, whatever.

The other thing SF should have done at a minimum, and that was get our asses out of our deep end to at least the 30-40 to turn field advantage back to us after punts.

But it's not ALL on SF.

You nailed it. SF doesn't escape this loss Scot free. However if the defense doesn't blow their assignments twice in the 1st quarter those 2 long TD runs never happen. Then after we get the pick 6 we allow the ensuing KO to be returned for a TD. Dang we had been pooch kicking all game against Maryland. We did it after that TD is returned against Iowa and it worked. It helped the defense keep them under wraps and an up back returning the ball isn't going to go very far.

I agree what was on Frost was not inserting or keeping McCaffrey in the game after that TD toss. He posed an obvious threat to Iowa with his speed, quickness, and elusiveness. Something they weren't scared of with AM.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cincy has a new head coach next season. Things will start to heat up tomorrow with coaching changes around the country. Missouri is already open. Rutgers is still open. Arkansas is still open. Florida State is still open. More will open tomorrow.

Frost struck me in college as an arrogant douchebag. During his time coaching, particularly at UCF, he seemed like he had grown up a lot. He seemed grounded, spoke about his beliefs, and sounded like the kind of guy who makes a great leader. He came to Nebraska with a ton of confidence, talking about how the Big Ten would have to adjust to his schemes. It all sounded great.

But as this season wore on and the team continued to struggle, it seemed like he grew arrogant and petulant. Tough times expose a person’s character. I saw a guy who looks like he’s in over his head. I watched him continue to roll out a QB who was struggling, call the same plays that aren’t working, and blame the players for the team’s struggles. In my view, Frost has demonstrated some real weaknesses of character and as a leader since he returned to Nebraska.

Maybe Frost learns from failure, grows and matures, and develops into the leader we need. But I see a disturbing amount of the same arrogant douchebag I remember from college. And once a person hits their 30s or 40s, I think their character is pretty much baked in. So to the extent he has character flaws, he (and Husker Nation) are probably stuck with them.

Three weeks ago Shatel had a great article about not swapping out AM2 for a different QB and gave some plausible reasons for not doing it, such as fans were calling for his head and Osborne stuck with him....so it goes, he will stick with the devil he chose. You can apply the staff to that reasoning too, continuity is more important than W s. I m betting if he puts up another stinker like this, those non Ws are going to be very important.

One of the traits I hated in Callahan and Riley was that insistence that their plays would work if they just kept calling them enough. They imposed a West Coast Offense on players who were recruited for a run-based attack. Callahan and Riley wanted to impose their systems NOW, no matter the cost in wins or losses.

We've seen some of that with Frost, too. I wish we could GO WITH WHAT IS WORKING, even if it isn't what was in the game plan for the day. This has been an extremely difficult year for Frost, and frankly, he hasn't handled it too well. During this long off-season, I hope he reflects on some of these things.

TO reinvented his coaching style several times when it was clear his approach wasn't working. Frost needs to do the same. Getting better athletes will help, of course, but the way we do things has to change next year. Let's start with finding someone who can put the ball into the end zone on kickoffs.

And with Osborne it took him a period of years to admit what he was doing wasn't working. This happened about 3 times during his 25 year coaching stint. He had a certain amount of ego as well. Where do you think Frost gets it from? TO, Walsh, Parcells, Bellichick, etc. Every coach has an ego of some sort. Osborne was more stubborn than anything. I went to school at UNL from '89- '94 and remember being frustrated with him too about him calling the same damn play over and over and it not working. Drove me fricking bananas. Then when he gets a better defense and the QB of a lifetime, those plays start to work later in the game.

Rutgers doesn't give 2 ratz azzes about winning, so Chins may get an offer.

I'm a simpleton I guess. Didn't we hire a coach to take charge of this team and hire who he needed to win?
Or did we hire Frost to come in and help coach the team along with us fans?
If it were up to some folks we would have someone new every other week. Plus we would have about 40 players on the roster.
Be kind of hard to recruit cause we would second guess every recruit so none would actually sign.

No, just Chins.......and DeWitt.

Well, if he never throws that pass out in the flats ever again, since it seems only NU can't run it, he'll get my "Comeback Coach of the Year" vote.

That's what drives me crazy. They were all geniii when 13-0 @ UCF and now suddenly it's lack of players, talent, etc.

I'm sure our play would have been better with players more suited to Frost's schemes but were lots of bad play calling, bad clock management and my personal pet peave, Frost's creating a schism with the ranks of his own players. I suspect the "not my players" remarks cost several games right there but that is revisionist history which I try not to do.
When ucf had better players, more depth, and better fits than us by far, starting with a hungry team who went new years bowling two years prior, yea, we need better guys.
Theyve sent more guys to the pros than we have the last five years total.
Someone pointed out that frosh can play more in the AAC, and to an extent, probably true.
Now, get that level here,or coach them up,it'll happen. SF has always taken cast offs, just like our previous staffs have, but I firmly believe, this staff knows how to use them much much better.
Luke at wideout? Sure, when you don't have any, but before, that was made permanent, and foolishly so, ending up with Fyfe as backup, after years at the helm.
They will find better ways to use talent, and, their system is much more diverse for using those players as well.

You can't change blocking schemes in the middle of the season.
Can't make players make plays.
But,you can better use the players you do have, and run the ball more than Bo did.
Now, each years going to be different, but each year, you still have to play the guys you have.
Each year, you make changes, each year the players learn new plays.
Success is a combination of those things,as we saw bama change too, as mich is trying to, then the little changes.
Whoda thunk we run the ball more on average than bama? Or Bo?
Now ask yourself, down to one true rb, yet you're running more than Bo did with AA?
In this nice pass offense? Someone isnt getting open.
