What to do at QB?

I would rather spend the money to get say a Will Howard who has one year left and he can take Kaelin under his wing.
Im not sure I would rule out Chubba. I think Harberg should consider DB or TE position. It does not matter who is the QB if we get can to 0 turnovers.

Here's the deal. I like Chubba and think he could be very good. Problem is Satterfield is the QB coach and frankly sucks at developing players. This is why I think they need to spend the money to get a high profile portal QB and hopefully in doing so that flips our Winn loss record and it allows for what little developing Satterfield does do to hopefully take for Chubba and Kaelin.

I am in favor of the portal to getting a QB I believe we would be served well if we had a real competition for the position and let the chips fall where they may.

FWIW - I think Rhule said that as a msg to the doners/sponsors towards NIL... as in, "it's time to step up". Because the team is not the one funding those NIL checks.
They only way I'd give any money for NIL is if I get a percentage cut of future football revenue from the university and a cut of future earnings of whatever players get said money. Or is that too greedy? I mean, my return on investment in this program the last 20 years has been horrible.

If I had a company I would , run some tv advertising pay the actors , end of year tax write off

You nailed it, Chris. Matt Rhule said--and I quote: A good QB in the portal costs $1 million, $1.5, 2 million."

That was Coach Rhule's not-so-subtle way of telling our big-bucks donors that a good portal QB on the NIL market doesn't come cheap. I've gone back-and-forth on whether we need one. Purdy has shown me some potential BUT --- good golly molly --- his end-of-game misplays were HUUUUUUUGE.

I hate playing the woulda, coulda, shoulda game but this team was a few bone-headed plays away from having eight wins with a possible ninth from a bowl win. And we were competitive in 11 of our 12 games. When you can step away from all the pain and agony November brought (admittedly, not easy), it's a good sign going into Year Two.

We need a QB but we might have to get one from the NIL discount bin. $1M probably is the max we could scrape together. I think a deal closer to $500-600K is more likely if we have interest from a QB that has that market value - eliminates the highest rated QBs so I don't expect to be that blown away by who we get. No chasing Spencer Rattlers

There will be enough money to get a very good QB from the portal.

You right but we've been saying that for 6 years
Not six, (IMO) just one: Frost's "Best 3 win team in CFB history."

And as time passes, I'm dealing with this wart-filled, five-win season for Year One of the Rhule era. Upon reflection, this injury-riddled season (the worst I can ever remember) could have easily been a worst W/L record than last year----particularly given our mind-numbing number of turnovers. This is not about making excuses, it's simply putting the season record into some perspective given the way it ended.

Having Tony White and our D coaches -- and most of the Blackshirts -- returning next season is HUUUUGE. We are well-positioned to take a big step forward in 2024.

Remember folks, it's all about the process. "Day by day..."

Yes, never forget best three-win team.... I would much rather be remembered as the best 10-win team.
