Sumlin did really well with Sherman recruits including Johnny Football and once they were gone, the program has digressed. We need an improvement, not status quo and that is what Sumlin represents.4. Kevin Sumlin (Coached at Washington St. with James Franklin - mentioned at press conference)
So, someone told me the the whole staff, minus Bray and Billy Devaney were let go.
Any truth to this?
I didn't hear him call either the current or the former AD an expletive. Did I miss that or is that at a later time?

Yes, Moos essentially cleaned house here. Think he kept some or all of the grad assistants, t oo.

Oh the irony. The funny thing is now we know, that former coaches words were spot on.
I think Moos said it was a contract issue.Hmm. From everything I have heard, I can't fathom a reason why Devaney should be kept.
He is a major cog in this dumpster fire.
Indeed, one win less that the requisite 9 wins but he's close. LOLAgreed. I hope he's further down the list than #4. If he was such a great coach, how is it that he can only muster 8 wins a year (7 so far this year) when he's in the middle of fertile recruiting grounds?!

I dont care too much what he said in the presser, Sumlin, once a rising star has faded. Hell if he is going after Sumlin, why not try and get Shaw away from Stanford, he is a proven comodity, year in and year out.Moos mentioned Sumlin in his press conference in reference to coaches when asked a question ... Just wondering who is on the list of "Six" that Moos described ...

Wasn't it a couple weeks ago you were against Frost and said he wasn't coming here? Looks like you were off on this one.If you put much stock into the way Bill Moos said what he did about the type of football he would love to see back here and you can read between the lines so to speak, then the picture of what exactly we have to look forward to and then add to that those Coaches out there with the ability to do those type things....ie.....the speed option, dual threat Quarter back, a REAL VERSION of the BLACKSHIRTS and truly special special teams.....(just like I was hinting that we so desperately have to have here to get back to what were good at) you can start eliminating names of coaches fairly quickly and those that are left.....plus the ones that contacted the A.D.'s office through their agents, who's names would make some say oh my God......really ......no way....HIS AGENT CALLED ?????....and make others just say WOW!.....THIS IS REALLY ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER JOBS IN THE POWER 5 !
Look bottom line here is.... University President Bounds, Chancellor Green and The Moos really do understand and totally get these couple of very simple points....point #1. NEBRASKA is known for several things, good moral fiber. We care about others. We care about how people are treated. Hard Work brings honest well deserved rewards.....and in the effort one gives .....a job well done is it's own reward. We care about our History and how we are perceived by others, We will go out of our way to make someone feel at home and welcome. Here a good firm handshake and the look in a man's eye is as good as any legal Document. Here we prize honesty and truth above all. We treat our Women and Children and the Old Folks as treasures.....not belongings.....We say Sir and we say Ma'am and if you ain't into that we don't give a da_n !.....But most of all we, Man, Woman, and child care about NEBRASKA FOOTBALL.....It's the one constant that makes us all, Banker, Farmer, Teacher, Ditch Digger.....EQUAL.
Point #2) We believe in RUNNING THE FOOTBALL, Quarterback's that can Run the Ball as Well as they can Throw it !, I-Backs and Fullbacks that are regularly in consideration for being the best in the country, Rushing Titles mean more to some than trophy's....A pair of Outstanding Blocking and catching Tight Ends.....an Offensive line that has one or more in the running for the Outland and Rimmington trophies every year or so, but the line it self is called The PIPELINE for a reason.....they are truly offensive Offensive linemen....tough as nails and no back up in them.....Wing backs and Wide Receivers who not only catch anything thrown near them but are some of the best perimeter blockers in the country......then you add the return of a BLACKSHIRT DEFENSE THAT WILL SMOTHER OPPONENTS.....AND you have a team that can beat anybody on any day anywhere in the country.....when was the last time you saw ANYBODY STOP THAT KIND OF TEAM ON A REGULAR BASIS.......
This is what Nebraska was....should have stayed (had it not been for certain people who thought they knew best.....that's a joke in itself.....) And needs to be again to be successful going forward.......that's what the Fan base wants.....that's what the Ex players want and that's what "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Bill Moos wants back in Memorial Stadium.....and by God's good graces we will have it ......
Good things come to those who by God earn them......and we have paid our dues.
Doc.

Ok I was wondering how long it would be before someone brought that up....yes I did state that Along with some of my teammates we would do what we could to block his return.....myself was for purely personal reasons. Now once the season got rolling and the way things unfolded .....A couple as in 2 of my teammates who were the vocal leaders of our class of Blackshirts got wind of my feelings through my Wife, and the 2 of them went out of their way to reach out to me and talk.....we basically set up and had a ex-players team meeting when we were all in Lincoln for a game and the celebration of our groups accomplishments....
Boy let me tell you.....there were lots of harsh words.....some yelling and shouting just like we had never been apart....alot of things got worked through and aired out amongst our group....one of them was what I was so upset about. We all understood then that The Program was at a crossroads of sorts....in our opinion we were very near rock bottom.....little did we know that the bottom would come rushing up to meet us just a few short days later...
See every guy on that Defense was like a brother to each other.....it was a tight bond that went way deeper than blood even.....I know that sounds impossible but it's true.....and might be one of the reasons we were able to accomplish some of the things we did......?......anyway long story short we all to a man decided that once again we needed to put all personal feelings on hold and move forward as one group like we did when playing together for the good of the program and school.
We owe our Coaches and the University everything we became and are today.....and we were not about to let personal feelings change who we are at the core......so the decision was made to get behind the University and to do whatever was needed to assure the success of the Football Program going forward......no matter what was asked of us we would do what was needed, if Scott Frost was to get the job of head Coach that means supporting him and helping anyway we are asked or needed to.....
Hence the change in my personal feelings..... now make no mistake my feelings are still there.....I'm still pissed at him but really there is nothing that could EVER be done about it now.....the dead are still dead.....and no matter how much we would like to....we can't turn back the hands of time and just undo things that happened years ago....so I have delt with it.....brought it out into the light with my teammates and we all talked it over....there were tears, sadness but yet peace in sharing my feelings with my brothers....little did I know how many of them felt the same way but felt bad for me and were afraid to bring it up....so a lot of healing occurred in that room that day.....and brought us all just as close as we once were....that was a very unexpected surprise.
It was hard telling you all that but at least now you understand what's up....thanks for your patience and understanding....and to those who don't care....that's cool I get it.....just don't expect mercy where none is given in turn.
