2023 Preview: Colorado

Sticking with what happened down in Forth Worth a week ago, I also think people have a false sense of what exactly TCU is in 2023. They only returned 3 players on offense from a year ago, including losing their Heisman Runner-Up QB from Council Bluffs Max Duggan. They had 8 players selected in the NFL draft, and another 5 players signed undrafted free-agent contracts. That’s 13 players from their National Runner-Up team gone. Here is the breakdown of the 13 guys that left:

QB – 1
WR – 4
RB – 2
OL – 2
DL – 1
Edge – 1
LB – 1
DB – 1

9 players on offense off to the NFL, yet they still scored 42 points on Colorado without knowing what to expect from the defense and losing the turnover battle. They averaged 7 yards per carry on offense, scored 42 points, and had over 500 yards on offense despite losing 9 players and their offensive coordinator calling RB wheel routes on 3rd and inches.

Let’s also not forget that their offensive coordinator who was the Broyles Award Winner (best assistant in the country) left to go to Clemson in the offseason, and they hired Kendall Briles, so it’s a new offense that scored this much on Colorado.

CU Buffs’ Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter see NIL valuations skyrocket

The on-field performances resulted in major NIL returns. Shedeur Sanders saw his On3 NIL Valuation jump up $2.5 million to $3.5 million. It is now the highest-ranked valuation in college football, edging out Texas quarterback Arch Manning at $2.9 million. The quarterback has more than 1.5 million followers on social media.

Colorado's Travis Hunter, Deion Sanders' Son Shedeur Worth $5.3M in Total NIL Value

Per Pete Nakos of On3.com, Sanders and Hunter now have a combined $5.3 million name, image and likeness valuation.

Per On3.com's overall NIL valuation list, Sanders ranks second to Bronny James at $6.3 million. Hunter is No. 6 overall between USC quarterback Caleb Williams ($2.6 million) and Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart ($1.7 million).

Remember when Missouri came into Lincoln after beating the #1 Sooners and Helu went off for 400 yards? Maybe that will happen tomorrow?

I'm nervous as hell about this game. But one thing I can say with confidence: Nebraska holds the psychological advantage going into it.

Colorado is still on Cloud Nine. Let's see how they react when we punch 'em in the mouth.

Did you read post # 162 in this thread about the TCU team that CO barely beat last week?

Thanks for trying to reassure me, ATX! I need all the help I can get. ;)

One of the things many of us forget is that, in many ways, Nebraska is a different team too. This is NOT the Frost era anymore. When we roll our eyes and say, "Ugh, Here we go again!", we're taking about US FANS, not the team we're rooting for.

But it's one thing to discuss this business calmly and dispassionately with one another. But the next time I see another Husker turnover in a tight game, rationality will have gone out the window for me. :)

while respecting what colorado did..mainly deion with the entirely new team and such..i haven't fully bitten off deion sanders having created an "unstoppable force" within a football team. we've all -especially us husker fans- have seen those flash in a pan coaching hires that bedazzle everyone for a short time then peter out shortly after. i'm not saying that deion will or won't but..let's pump the breaks on that whole "beat the number 7 team in the nation" talk (or whatever ranking tcu was at). as pointed out, they're a shade of what they were last year and those rankings during the first few weeks mean nothing beyond the top level teams and even those don't pan out much of the time. look at texas am last year for merely one example. every season has them. the huskers aren't out of the notion that they could win this. we've only seen rhule, with this team on gameday, once so far.
