The “Sellout Streak” in jeopardy?

Some cities only support pro teams. Chicago is another example of this.

So is New York City. I have always found it a little ?odd? ?funny? that the B1G invited Rutgers into the league for the NYC audience. I have, for work, been to NYC probably 6-7 times and I can tell you first hand, nobody in NYC gives a crap about Rutgers football. I have never seen anyone in NYC ever wearing Rutgers jerseys, hats, or any other kind of merch. Go into pretty much any restaurant, bar, or any place where people talk sports, and Rutgers is never mentioned. The Knicks, Yankees, Mets, Giants, and Jets are probably 98% of all the sports talk.

Agree that no one in NYC or Jersey knows Rutgers. I thought it odd that they were asked to join the B1G given the Pro Sports environment. They were invited to join the B1G because of millions of Eyeballs watching TV. Instead they got Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.

The attached photo (from post #63) shows Memorial Stadium probably an hour before kick-off.

While the picture was meant as a joke, it accurately represents the impact of money on Husker gamedays. The north and south endzones fill up within the first half an hour of the gates opening. The so-called 'elite' seating always fills up last.

BTW, for anybody interested, the photo is 'fake.' The big Huskervision scoreboard should be on the left side of the photo (North endzone), the empty section for the marching band should be on the right side around the 20 yard line and this old version of the field doesn't mark Tom Osborne Field or the red outline for the red zone.

Can anybody tell I'm impatient for this damn game to get here? :D

A lot of those people in East stadium are tailgating just outside. Takes 5 minutes to get to your seat.

Not sure that matters as much as long as the local TV providers were then obligated to have to carry the Big 10 Network in their subscription packages anyway. Obviously that was before the paradigm shifted to where it is now with YouTube TV and so on.

The three most impressive sports records that will never be broken, in no specific order, are

Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak
Nolan Ryan's 7 No-No's
Nolan Ryan's 5714 career strikeouts
Jack Nicklaus 18 Major victories
Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in a single game
Nebraska's home sellout streak of 410+

The sellout streak is something that should make the entire state of Nebraska extremely proud. All of the other records were set by individuals. The idea that a state with roughly 2 million people can sell out a stadium for 60+ seasons, especially with what has transpired the last 20 years, is nothing short of.

I would add Pete Roses 4,256 hits in a career to that list

Joey Chestnut downing 83 glizzies at one time has to be #1 on any list. No one will ever top that.

Back in my day, we just called them hotdogs. To the point of your post though, 83 in what, 10 minutes? :ack2::ack2::ack2::ack2::ack2:
