Super Official Nebraska/Akron Game Day Thread.

I am going to DVR the Michigan-Oklahoma game as it is on at the same time as the Nebraska-Akron game.

As I've mentioned a few other times, I'M GOING TO THE GAME TODAY!
This means I won't be in the Shoutbox. Someone else will have to fill in with the inane viewpoints and almost funny comments. Good Luck!

I have been known to have opined that Nebraska football was meant to be played at 1:30 on a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon like was always the case back in the good ole' days. But I have to admit, I've changed my tune.

A night game like last year's CU game and today's Akron game has become college football's new Gold Standard. There's nothing quite like the energetic buzz that a night game brings to Memorial Stadium. Combine that atmosphere with the spectacular light show between the 3rd and 4th quarters and you've got yourself an experience unrivaled in CFB (As has been the case with Nebraska's past innovations, I hear Texas is now following our lead.)

GO BIG RED!

Gottula is a good solid tackle, and he'd be my pick, but at the same time it seems to be sad that a player like Pritchett can't seem to get his act together. A huge upside to that guy.
One of the unfortunate side-effects of big-dollar NIL money is that it's nearly impossible to be patient and wait for an OL/DL prospect to develop into a genuine stud these days.

Arguably the greatest lineman in Husker history, Ndamukong Suh, didn't come into his own until midway through his junior year. It's tough enough for a coaching staff to gamble they're on the verge of developing an All-American if given enough time. But if that player is also a discipline problem, fuhgeddaboudit! No program, even money-rich Ohio State or Oregon, can afford to waste big dollars on that kind of athlete.

If you will, please allow me to bring two things to my attention.

1. After November 7th, I prefer to bask in the glow of a warm autumn sun at 1:3o in the afternoon.
2. Heinrich Haarberg needs to start getting touches in this offense as soon as ASAP.
3. In the Michigan/New Mexico game last week the Lobos were in a 4th and 9 situation at their own 42-yard line and their QB dropped back and flung the ball as far as he could, Hail Mary status. The Michigan DB leaped up, outmuscled the receiver for the ball, intercepted the pass at his own 20-yard line, and fell down. He was so proud of himself.

BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!

How can you argue with these stellar points? Hunch has already hit mid-season form, baby!

Sort of like college football teams, BHF posters make their biggest season strides on Game 2 gamedays!

Anyone else hear/see where Elijah Pritchett is suspended today?
I posted that week 2 depth chart to show that he was listed as available. If, and it's a big IF, he's suspended, I think it should be his last chance. He came here for a new start after a myriad of problems at Alabama. His reputation for lack of effort to realize his potential can infest the culture of the locker room. 104 guys on the same page is better than 104 guys and one with his own program.
Shape up or ship out.

However,
if he hasn't been suspended, tell him we love him and watch the false starts.

Well, we all know it won't be Uenth. A night game is not good. By halftime, I will either be nodding out on the keyboard or had enough of the heat of the moment reactions in Chat. I'm good with everyone expressing how they feel and, when things are going south, I tend to agree. I just made a conscious decision to not go there so it's best for me to just close out chat and go solo with the game

Anyway, 5-1/2 hours until kick-off!

GO BIG RED!!!
