Speculation on Dylan’s Future

A while back, I was visiting some BS rumor mill podcasts. At that time Soresby, the Texas Tech QB was having his issues with sports betting. Anyway several places hinted that Texas Tech would be a good landing spot for DR, seeing that he would be relegated to sitting on the bench this year. Going to TT would have been coming full circle, because that is where Mahomes went to school. I often wonder if that Soresby event happened earlier if perhaps DR would have bolted for TT, after all, traveling is in his blood. Maybe he missed the boat there. The Big 12 doesn’t play good D, and this is where he could have shined.

Yeah, I don't see the need for all the AI slop photos of Raiola as some kind of morbidly obese slob. It's giving spurned ex-lover vibes on both sides

I for one celebrate Dylan's stance for body positivity. His reluctance to shed some extra pounds promotes the acceptance of all bodies, regardless of size, shape, or appearance, emphasizing self-acceptance and appreciation for one's body.

A lot has been made of DR's comments about Nebraska. I am the furthest thing from a Dylan fan but I'm going to offer a different perspective. The "cornfield" line is a throwaway that has been used ad infinitum, and suggesting Oregon is more talented than Nebraska gets a "duh" from the rest of the college football world.

Now, think about what Dylan, the legacy recruit two years ago that was going to save the program, has heard from Lincoln since his departure. There has been a near unanimous opinion the Huskers will be better off without the slow blinking, overweight, slow-footed sloth. All of Husker Nation is excited at the prospects of the former Virginia/UNLV guy leading Nebraska to bigger and brighter things.

When you analyze the situation in that context, his comments were relatively tame.

With all that being said, I am really looking forward to what Colandrea brings to the table, and I'm glad DR is in Eugene. His comments after leaving Nebraska don't befront me.

The following post was brilliantly co-written with my buddy, Hunchie.

The Scene: Doc Fumble's Shrink Shop where a near-comatose, overweight, slow moving dude who sort of looks like Patrick Mahomes has arrived for his weekly appointment.

Dylan Raiola: Jeez, Doc, I can't believe all THE VENOM I'm getting from Husker fans. My "cornfield" line is a throwaway that has been used ad infinitum, and suggesting Oregon is more talented than Nebraska gets a "duh" from the rest of the college football world.

<An annoyed Fumble is already glancing at his watch to see how much time remains in the session and mumbles...>

Fumble: I see, I see. Go on...

Dylan: I mean my
comments were relatively tame compared to ALL THE CRAP that Husker fans have been slinging at me. I've heard them say out loud that the Huskers will be better off without ME! Can you believe it??!?They call me a slow blinking, overweight, slow-footed sloth. Yikes, talk about disrespect! The ungrateful bastards! They don't appreciate my eleventh-hour turnaround after being committed to Georgia.

Fumble: Looking back now, they most certainly understand what Coach Rhule agreed to give up for in order for YOU to make that eleventh-hour decision--Kyle McCord's senior year: nearly 4800 yards passing and 34 TD passes in leading Syracuse to a 10-3 record.

Dylan: But I was a five-star legacy who came to return Nebraska to prominence.

Fumble: Yes, you were. But I'm afraid that 13 wins and a boatload of money in two seasons (TJ got the other one) before running off --- without so much as a "good-bye" --- to be...the back-up QB at Oregon isn't exactly 'the prominence' that Husker fans had in mind.

Dylan: That's
all Nebraska's fault. I would've returned for my junior year but I needed MORE MONEY and a better QB coach. But get this, Dad told me that Coach Rhule REFUSED TO FIRE GLEN THOMAS!!!

Fumble: <breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to his BHF audience> If you're all wondering why I put up with this entitled moron's BULLSH*T, it's because he pays well. :p

And yeah, I know, the season can't get here soon enough!!!

Don't forget Coach Matt also passed on Jett Thomalla to get Dylan's brother, 2-star tight end Dayton Raiola. That may be the worst player personnel decision since Frost passed on Joe Burrow to keep Logan Smothers in the fold.

BINGO! We could go on-and-on about the compromises that were made to please the Raiola clan. It's one of those situations where most all of us would have made similar decisions at the time but in hindsight, every one of them set the program back.

While it is 100% on HCMR, I am sure he felt held hostage by the Raiola's. That all changed after the MINN game.
I just watched a video where a non-Nebraska fan commented that he'd watched a high school game where Raiola was sacked eight times. Again, it was in a high school game.

Funny how you never learn these things when watching a star recruit's HUDL highlight video.

I have said this many times during the last season. I was jumped on every time I said it.

I will say it one more time.

Many of the sacks were on DR. Why? He reads slow, and he is more concerned about his completion percentage than taking sacks.

Always blaming the OL was low-hanging fruit.

Perhaps. But I also saw so many plays last season where our OTs just got absolutely mauled, man-handled, and embarrassed by our opponents DEs and OLBs.
There were many times he could have thrown the ball away. He also, especially in the Minnesota game, was accused, yes, rumors, of changing the plays to pass plays.

DR was a good QB but not a great QB. He was not a feature QB who could take over a game. He was not that guy who could pull victory out of defeat. Any criticism on the O-line can't be made without a large amount of the blame being put on Uncle Don. In truth, DR spent too much time trying to be a Mahomes clone and not enough time developing his skills. His father's influence was also detrimental to him. As often the case, parents do not see the downside of their children. It appears Dom felt that his son's talent was at a level where he could dictate how the NU program was run. He was badly mistaken.

I hope DR uses his second chance to become what he is capable of. He needs to understand he is not Patrick Mahomes. He needs to tell dad to give him some space and be his own man.

Correction he passed on Burrow for AM2. We had a chance to get Joey B and Frosted flakes said nah, I'll go with this Freshman who sat out his SR of H.S due to an injury.
