Read that last sentence again....we lost because of the front, sorry, in a 3 4 D the linemen clog it up and the Linebackers clean it up. I never saw a linebacker that I remember in there trying to get the passer. He stood tall in the pocket.

Our rushing backer just got passed up by our other rushing backer, playing much less time,and a true freshman.
If they don't set the edge, then who does?
I made a post about our lack of pass rush and tackles from our backers, so, one of our linemen actually lead in sacks, which wiscy and bama simply dont have.
I read where older guys arent buying in, not naming names,but someone can't give up their fits to make a play then expect the LBs to fill a hole they can't get to.
Trying to do things you arent supposed to messes up the guys behind you.

Okay I get told it is the players because they are not getting home from the DL. But others keep saying the DL job in the 3-4 is to tie up blockers so the lb can run. That said, our blitz schemes still run our LB right into a blocker or so far wide the other team has run two more plays before they can get to the QB. Sorry that is coaching. Chins was not great against AAC offenses and he is quickly showing Big 10 offenses are going to be a challenge for him.

Weve sent Davis alot, JoJo some, but LJ alot as well.
I mean alot for a db.

That is how the 3-4 is supposed to work. You're fourth rusher can come from anywhere. However, I don't think we have a backer with enough speed to speed rush from the corners. The attempts at sending a backer up the middle is so predictable and poorly concealed that it gets stuffed. The blitz packages in this program stink. Way to predictable and personnel who are not capable.

Yep strange indeed. Again, our fourth guy when he comes, runs right into a blocker or goes so wide he is a non-factor.

Agree which is why it hurts we have whiffed so badly on LBs this recruiting cycle.

You are right. Pelini's system didn't rely on LBs. I think there were only 5 on the roster when Riley came in. He recruited a few but most didn't stay. Switching to the 3-4 without 3-4 LBs has been a nail in our coffin. We have a couple of studs on the roster but they need time to learn the system and develop.

We also might have a few tweeners coming up in our secondary.

At this level there isn't a lot of technic coaching like HS, D3 or D2 once you reach FCS or FBS, you spend the majority of in season practice time working on the scheme. To bad cause the Huskers need a whole lot of technic coaching!!

Lotsa NFL teams have a specialist who moves around as the QB calls out the defense to the offense. The key is for the specialist to be moving where he figures he needs to be during this period and the offense doesnt pck him up
