For the game, on 3rd and 4th down, Indiana's total offense was 183 yards. Just on those two downs.

This was after a bye week, in Lincoln, eighth game of the season.

The culture of quit is deeply ingrained in this program.

This is also a hold over from last year where NU was ranked 100th or worse for 3rd and long conversion rate given up. Zero pass rush is the main culprit but exploitation of scheme by opposing coaches is also a factor.

Chinander is a terrible coach. He would be terrible on a youth league 6th grade team. Frost needs to decide if he wants to get fired on loyalty to that guy.

I said our defense sucked last week at Minneapolis and it sucked more today because with any D at all we win.

Defense is terrible, but this loss is not just on the D. Three times the offense/special teams set the defense up for failure and Indiana came away with 21 point. A fumble that gave Indiana the ball at the 8, a shanked punt following a 3 and out giving Indiana the ball at the 35 and another fumble at the 47.

If the offense protects the ball and if special teams is not steaming pile of Baby Poop, Nebraska likely wins this game.

Offense put up enough points. Yes they could have played better but the d could have played a ton better. The D is supposed to stop their offense not make excuses They did not adjust between halves.

Look around folks.
When you see most games, getting a decent third down outcome, a third and medium or more, is supposed to put pressure on the opposing offense.
Does it look like our defense is ratcheting up that pressure?
When have we gotten pressure?

The only improvement I saw our D line do is, they somewhat kept their lanes, but only after getting burned earlier.
All this talk about coaching, well, weve seen the other defenses, guys you can double team and still are threats, consistent pressure on the qbs, even more so on third down spetc.

Dont tell me its coaching when you have pass rushers thats never getting home. They split Stille and Davis out wide, rarely did they make a difference.

I will send someone down to OSU to see if we cant pick off a pass rusher or two.:hair:

The problem is not necessarily a pass rusher person......our guys do not know how to get off a block and that is a fact.
I believe thats part effort, part technique.
But yes, not getting pressure on opposing qbs who throw 40 times a game vs only 31 rushing, try turning those numbers around.
Teams like indy and NW make hay with little to no run game when you cant get to their qbs.
Having a great pass rush destroys teams like this.

We stopped their run, getting just 3.3 per rush, 104 for the game etc. We didn't lose by doing that, we lost by allowing their pass game to be far too effective, and as always, it starts up front.

The fear of losing income keeps people from doing the right thing out of character and honor.

Money keeps otherwise great people from falling on the sword. If certain coaches "manned up" for the sake of the program, they'd move on.

If I knew more about the Xs and Os of FB, I'd do it for free, because of the love of the game, not because I'm worried about my pocketbook.

davis x2 and Daniels are terrible players. This team is hopeless with them up front

Read that last sentence again....we lost because of the front, sorry, in a 3 4 D the linemen clog it up and the Linebackers clean it up. I never saw a linebacker that I remember in there trying to get the passer. He stood tall in the pocket.

Okay I get told it is the players because they are not getting home from the DL. But others keep saying the DL job in the 3-4 is to tie up blockers so the lb can run. That said, our blitz schemes still run our LB right into a blocker or so far wide the other team has run two more plays before they can get to the QB. Sorry that is coaching. Chins was not great against AAC offenses and he is quickly showing Big 10 offenses are going to be a challenge for him.
