I know it was around during the Solich era because the pro-solich crowd were called Solichistas! That's around when I joined. When did BHF start? I can't even remember.
This thread came up when I noticed today was Steve Ryan's birthday.
Once upon a time, Steve Ryan ran Husker Central. It was the place where some of us BHFers cut our teeth on Husker football fan message boards.
Back in late 2017, Crazyhole and I became a two-headed Moses leading a migration from a soon-to-be-vaporized Husker Central board over here to the promised land of BHF.
I did some digging and found an old thread that Steve Ryan posted to back in 2018 when the migration was in progress:
Bigredreport/husker central posters
Steve and many of the initial wave of posters didn't stick, and some, like Crazyhole and MRJFB have sadly passed since 2018, but many of us remain bigtime BHF fixtures eight years later.
The list I can think of is pretty damn impressive. They include: @innmc, @Righteous Red (formerly HumbleNarcissist) @KansasRed, @Jimbosc, @MoreThanWinning, @NUinNC, @LinvingProog (who got his BHF name from The Greatest Thread ever made!), @Navy60, @colhusker, @NebSailor, and @GIJoeRed. Some of these people have been Husker football posters since 2000.(Apologies to others here I probably missed--it's tough growing old.)
I should mention that we do get occasional football season posts from HuskerMo, the "Chris" of that old Husker Central board as well as DarthHusker, the Husker posting legend who once infamously made national news.
LOL, that's what they were called on HuskerPedia as well. There were the Solichistas and the non-Solichistas and the battles were epic sometimes. Ugh!!!I know it was around during the Solich era because the pro-solich crowd were called Solichistas! That's around when I joined.
Uenth, thank you for the compliment. This board awhile back used to have a forum called the 3rd Rail and where any subject could be talked about as long as none of it spilled over into the other forums. Well that unfortunately wasn't the case. It was a nightmare to moderate. Many folks were suspended or banned altogether. So when Bighuskefan upgraded their platform us mods and admins decided with the owners to not bring the 3rd rail over to the new platform. Even then some others started to act out and they too were purged. We didn't want to purge folks but when you blatantly break the rules and did adhere to the rules you were permanently dismissed. It took a few years for the site to be like it is today but I credit.thst to not only the Mods, Adkins, and owners, but to all our wonderful members who themselves have helped steer conversations back around. Personally I haven't had to suspend or ban a member in several years. So thank you to all our members for being civil and working with us on this board to make this place the best Husker forum out there. GBR!I started out on HuskerPedia, or HP, back midway through FS's tenure as HC. There was kind of a civil war on that place. HP became a pay to play site and the now defunct Big Red Board siphoned a lot of posters (myself included) from HP.
I stayed a loyal Husker fan but got disenchanted with the whole attitude towards everything Husker related on message boards. There was a lot of flak to those posters who could see the writing on the wall that FS was not the savior folks wanted him to be and if one negative thing was said, man were you roasted. Not my idea of a fun way to spend my free hours so I swore off message boards.
Then Scott Frost became our savior in waiting and I felt the "urge" to wax poetically about all things Husker and stumbled on BHF and the rest, as they say, is history.
This place really is unusual for message boards. The stuff that sinks other message boards just isn't tolerated here. I cannot stress enough how unusual that is. I think that is why there are so many posters who have been here for more than a decade. A crazy complement to the admin/mods running BHF. Kudos are well deserved!!!
I started in 2007 after Billy C was fired. It looks like all of BHF's Old Timers got 'rejoined' in 2013 (I'm guessing a software change).
Is there any way posters like justino52, Husker99, our mods, and you other 'originals' can have your actual start dates put in the system?
Personally, for all the stuff the site does with post #s and likes (in the last decade), I think recording a poster's true original start date (or an agreed upon approximation) would be cool thing to do to distinguish who our OLD Old Timers are.![]()
Personally, I find it hard to swallow that @Hunchback Johnny had been around here forever without ever being banned.Personally, I haven't had to suspend or ban a member in several years.
Now yer just talkin' crazy talk DrFum. The mods aren't going to ban someone for spewing nonsense.Personally, I find it hard to swallow that @Hunchback Johnny had been around here forever without ever being banned.
My guess is the guy's loaded and must be paying off you Mods behind the scenes.
AlbuqHusker???For the life of me I couldn't remember my old moniker and it just popped into my head. It was AlbuqHusker back in the Solich/Callahan days.

Between Bo's antics and the hiring of Mr. 500, umm, I mean Riley, I had pretty much washed my hands of college football and then he who shall remain nameless was hired and that alone brought me back to HuskerNation and this message board. Honestly, I don't envision myself coming back for Matt Rhule's hiring but I had followed Riley's last season and Frostie's magical season at UCF. Yeah, that was all because I fervently believed that Scott was the right man for that job at that point in time. Shows what the hell I know. LOL!!! Anyway, Scott brought me back to Husker Football so I guess I should be grateful for that. I'm not sure any other coach could have, TBPH.Now yer just talkin' crazy talk DrFum. The mods aren't going to ban someone for spewing nonsense.
I will say this. Solly stuck with Pelini longer than most on this board. Perhaps he had inside info as to how Bo was treated by the higher ups, but he and I had some heated exchanges concerning BoP's tenure in Lincoln. The secret recording of Bo bedowngrading (thank you, Mike Gundy) Husker Nation's fans was the last straw for me. He was a manchild that could not handle the fishbowl.
On the other hand, while I'm not completely sold on Coach Matt leading the Huskers back to prominent prominence, his temperament is perfectly suited to handle the expectations here.
The question is, can Coach Matt lead the Huskers back to 9-win seasons that were the mainstay when the Manchild was in charge.
Something else just popped into my scrambled brain. I don't remember when BHF changed their platform and dropped the Third Rail, but it was at that time that I changed my handle to Hunchback Johnny. For the life of me I couldn't remember my old moniker and it just popped into my head. It was AlbuqHusker back in the Solich/Callahan days.
I fervently believed that Scott was the right man for that job at that point in time. Shows what the hell I know.
Yeah, I'd call a Mulligan, if CF had such a thing.Pretty much everyone thought, or at least hoped, that Frost was the homerun hire we needed / wanted. In hindsight, oops.
