This thread came up when I noticed today was Steve Ryan's birthday.

Once upon a time, Steve Ryan ran Husker Central. It was the place where some of us BHFers cut our teeth on Husker football fan message boards.

Back in late 2017, Crazyhole and I became a two-headed Moses leading a migration from a soon-to-be-vaporized Husker Central board over here to the promised land of BHF.

I did some digging and found an old thread that Steve Ryan posted to back in 2018 when the migration was in progress:
Bigredreport/husker central posters

Steve and many of the initial wave of posters didn't stick, and some, like Crazyhole and MRJFB have sadly passed since 2018, but many of us remain bigtime BHF fixtures eight years later.

The list I can think of is pretty damn impressive. They include: @innmc, @Righteous Red (formerly HumbleNarcissist) @KansasRed, @Jimbosc, @MoreThanWinning, @NUinNC, @LinvingProog (who got his BHF name from The Greatest Thread ever made!), @Navy60, @colhusker, @NebSailor, and @GIJoeRed. Some of these people have been Husker football posters since 2000. (Apologies to others here I probably missed--it's tough growing old.)

I should mention that we do get occasional football season posts from HuskerMo, the "Chris" of that old Husker Central board as well as DarthHusker, the Husker posting legend who once infamously made national news.

My first HUSKER board was with my good friend John Johnston when he started CornNation. When all hell was breaking lose with the talk of firing Frank Solich another friend told me about BHF and I came here to get news also. Loved hearing from Solly, Bummerby, Charlie, Chis and Doc Holiday among many many others. Love it here.

Honestly, there are some boards I know where an influx of new posters would've generated a less-than-cordial, 'What the hell's happening to our board?' response from the site's regulars. The tone we newbies found here from Day One was a very welcoming one.

You BHF Long Timers tend to be a complainy bunch, but, to your credit, you did yourselves proud way back then. :) ;)

I started out on HuskerPedia, or HP, back midway through FS's tenure as HC. There was kind of a civil war on that place. HP became a pay to play site and the now defunct Big Red Board siphoned a lot of posters (myself included) from HP.

I stayed a loyal Husker fan but got disenchanted with the whole attitude towards everything Husker related on message boards. There was a lot of flak to those posters who could see the writing on the wall that FS was not the savior folks wanted him to be and if one negative thing was said, man were you roasted. Not my idea of a fun way to spend my free hours so I swore off message boards.

Then Scott Frost became our savior in waiting and I felt the "urge" to wax poetically about all things Husker and stumbled on BHF and the rest, as they say, is history.

This place really is unusual for message boards. The stuff that sinks other message boards just isn't tolerated here. I cannot stress enough how unusual that is. I think that is why there are so many posters who have been here for more than a decade. A crazy complement to the admin/mods running BHF. Kudos are well deserved!!!

By my calculations, some folks have been around here for more than two and a half decades.

Well said, Uenth.

Too late for my pretty little brain to cipher tonight. Kitchen demo should start this week and I spent all weekend packing, moving stuff out of the kitchen. I am one whopped puppy and still have about an hours worth of work to do tomorrow. I'm almost 70 freakin' years old -- too old to be this physical!!!

I know I came here at least in 2004 and maybe a year or two earlier. Which means I'm probably way past a redshirt. Diehard, Solly and all those that are no longer with us as well as most of our current members make this board enjoyable. Especially on game days.
Bummerbry brought me over from the old Yahoo College Football message boards.

It looks like all of BHF's Old Timers got 'rejoined' in 2013 (I'm guessing a software change).

Is there any way posters like justino52, Husker99, our mods, and you other 'originals' can have your actual start dates put in the system?

Personally, for all the stuff the site does with post #s and likes (in the last decade), I think recording a poster's true original start date (or an agreed upon approximation) would be cool thing to do to distinguish who our OLD Old Timers are. :)

I don't know any of you people... I was told there was beer and nachos if I created some arbitrary handle that involved some football team, that once was great apparently.

Still waiting on the beer and nachos...

J/K...I know Mo...ok, some of you other guys too. BTW...since we've all been on here for sooooo long...

GET OFF MY LAWN! ;-) AND...GBR!

GIJoe's kick-butt graphics have been a fixture of both boards he's been on.

oh...speaking of which - my jeep..."our" project is being wrapped as we speak. I'll get a shot of it with my granddaughter, as I'll be giving her "Blackie" when she turns 16...about 11 years from now. :-)

I had asked about that when the "rejoin" happened. I don't think it was possible. I believe I joined sometime in the late 90's but not certain. Seems like Solich was the coach at the time.

I recall the gentle nudge to BHF from several Husker Central members with a bit of trepidation - but it all worked out just fine.

I was posting on another board, I can't remember which one it was, when I noticed there was a gradual loss of activity. I posted a message asking what was going on and Doc responded telling me about BHF. Although at the time I was happy with the old board, Doc dragged me kicking and screaming to BHF. Best move I ever made. I, too, was part of the 2018 movement to this great place. Thanks, Doc!

Very similar to my story. I was on another board that I can't remember the name of and it was disintegrating. Someone mentioned this site, I joined and I haven't shut up yet.

I've been a member for over 20 years., probably closer to 25. Off the top of my head jd, Ohio, Val, Husker99/94, Bummer, Chris, Tfree, Huskergod, SUHnami, redfred, have all been around just as long.

I miss Solly, and a few others just faded away...
CDog, Red Said Ted, Husker21stb. I hope they are all doing well. Haven't heard from them in awhile.
