I think that’s gonna be about right. Will be spread concepts in the air , combined with simple reads and an actual down hill running game, or Pro style . I really , really, really, wanna see some 2 back sets we have the horses and not that lil guy big guy sh1t 2 big powerful RB’s that can kick the sh1t outa B1G LB’sI'm thinking that the combination of spread offense and Pro set is coach speak for "We're running Pro set."
Very glad we got him. If given enough time, I think this will work well with both parties involved. I will stick with my prediction that after spring ball I think we might lose a quarterback or two, but time will tell. From what I hear about Whipp all the qb's will be better for their time under his tutelage.......it's just a matter of time and patience.
I MIGHT have just a little insight into Chubba's injury and two subsequent surgeries. In the not too distant past my wife broke her clavicle riding her bicycle, and also required surgery. A plate was implanted and remains there yet. The recovery was rather long. The bone has to heal, but that is just the beginning. Depending on where it is broken, there is most likely is tendon and ligament trauma. This restricts movement and requires a fair amount of time and rehab. After this she might be done.......but maybe not. As the surgeon stated the plate gives an added security, but it can inhibit mobility. Nearly 50% of those receiving the plate have it removed because of issues with the plate.....eg loss of complete range in comfort, irritation (shoulder pads rubbing for example), and increased sensitivity to blows to the area. I'm GUESSING that Chubba's second surgery might have been to remove the plate. The issue with that is when the screws are removed the bone must heal itself in the holes remaining.......again more time and rehab. The good news is that the broken spot is often eventually the strongest part of the bone. The collar bone is the most broken bone in the body.......the leading young victims are contact sports athletes (ie football players), and cyclists. As one rider told us you're not a real cyclist until you break your collar bone.
What MIGHT this mean for Chubba at this juncture? Well, we've heard how he lost his place in rotation at FSU. It might not mean he wasn't as good as advertised, but rather the injury and surgeries merely set him back. Broken clavicles aren't insurmountable, but they can take precious time away from an athlete trying to climb, or hold onto his place, on the ladder. Maybe he might be ready to go full bore this spring.......but maybe not. If Whipp can "school" this young man in another year he might be everything he was supposed to be coming out of high school......this coming season....or maybe the next.
I'm very excited to get this young man. I hope he takes the opportunity to learn and become the best he can be during his time here.
Gosh thanks. Not sure this post deserves it, but I appreciate the thoughts. Please keep in mind though this is speculation on my part, and do in no small part to what my wife went through. Chubba's experience might be much different........ Just one of many possibilities. One of the best, thought provoking posts of this year to date !
Kudos to you.
Kate.
Was just reading the Wierd Gerald and Sip touched on an interesting fact....this Fall's contest with OU in Lincoln....
We went into the heart of Sooner land and lost by 7.
Both the Starting QB's from that Day have moved on.
We have fought OU over several players including Thompson and Purdy and won them all.
OU gets Brent Venables as it's new Coach...( A real Defensive Guy)
We get Whipple, Riola, Joseph and Applewhite. All OFFENSIVE guys.
I'm just telling you....unless some new creeping virus crap shuts everything down ( parish the thought) WE WOULDN'T MISS THIS YEARS OU @ NU GAME FOR ANYTHING SHY OF ONE OF OUR KIDS GETTING MARRIED AND EVEN THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO PLAN IT SO THE CEREMONY WAS BEFORE OR AFTER THE GAME ON TV.....LOL.
IT OUGHT TO BE A REAL DOOZY OF A GAME ....I WISH I WAS YOUNG AND HEALTHY ENOUGH TO PLAY IN THIS GAME !
DOC & Kate
You are good for a few downs, right?I WISH I WAS YOUNG AND HEALTHY ENOUGH TO PLAY IN THIS GAME !
You pay to get the paper so you can read sports articles, then they hit you again wiht premium so you can read the juicy stuff.Sip writes for the OWH now?

Do you think no one was recruiting or did SF purposely slow play recruiting, knowing he would have to hit the portal hard to find some immediate impact playersWinning the off season is a heck of a lot better than losing it as we were in late November. My gosh did nobody recruit???
It had to be the plan. He needs to win right now. There's no time to build up high schoolers for a season 2-3 years away.Do you think no one was recruiting or did SF purposely slow play recruiting, knowing he would have to hit the portal hard to find some immediate impact players
I really don’t know, but if this was the plan, it makes sense

It may be generous to assume there was a plan. Our staff seems far more reactionary than proactive. It had to be the plan. He needs to win right now. There's no time to build up high schoolers for a season 2-3 years away.
If you think about it, it is easier to project how a portal player will fit into your program than a HS player. Simply because you have a chance to see how they perform at the college level.Do you think no one was recruiting or did SF purposely slow play recruiting, knowing he would have to hit the portal hard to find some immediate impact players

You will still see plenty of shotgun one back regardless of what you call it. If Frost's flavor is included then some of the RPO and other run-pass option stuff will be incorporated. Not sure about pure option plays that we saw last season - those might be eliminated/minimized. I would expect QB run left/right or QB draw (aka Frost red zone offense) is taken out of the play book and burned.I'm thinking that the combination of spread offense and Pro set is coach speak for "We're running Pro set."
Well 75 percent of our offense last year is now located at KSU, no burning needed. You will still see plenty of shotgun one back regardless of what you call it.
