Miss Scarlet and I rode together as part of the 'Wild Bill' Callahan Gang for a few years in the early Oughts. But when things turned bad in 2007 and Marshall Tom rode into town to save the day, I bailed on Bill and ended up joining the Pelini Brothers Gang.

Scarlet was NOT a Bo fan (that's putting it mildly) and gave me and others a whole bunch of insider reasons going back to 2003 why hitchin' our wagon to Bo Pelini was a bad idea. Looking back now, it kind of irks me that Scarlet had Pelini pegged all along.

Anyhoo, Scarlet pulled one of those melodramatic, "if you all are a-gonna support Bo Pelini, I'm outta here" deals. And she did.

I been around long enough to know some people post on message boards because they love a particular coach, others post because they love being contrarians, still others post because they love themselves, and everybody else post because they're diehard Husker fans.

I like ridin' with them diehards. :)

Miss Scarlet was full of herself, still is. Very good friends with her but she does go a bit over board at times.

She left supporting her team for all the wrong reasons. I HATED MR but watched every single minute of every single game he coached - not many can say that !!!

When those kids have that N on their helmets support must be given to them. I AM A HUSKER FAN !!!!!

I didn't start out hating Smilin' Mike, but I quickly grew to. I was just dumbfounded that SE thought hiring a .500 coach would turn the program around.

Northwood, you showed up as a poster when Mike Riley was hired. Given that and your staunch defense of MR through thick and thin, I thought you were a "I'm a Husker because of Mike Riley" fan. So when Riley got canned last November, I would have bet the farm you'd disappear. And you did disappear--from BRR--but showed up here and have been one of this board's biggest posters ever since.

You may be old as dirt and hooked on 70s music, but there's no denying you're as diehard a Husker fan as they come. :thumbsup: GBR!

Your a better fan than I Mo cause I couldn't stand to watch. I didn't want those games to totally pollute my recollection of what Cornhusker Football is supposed to look like.

I could not bear to watch what Riley was doing to Husker football. Plus I was still madder than a wet hornet about Pelini's antics so I just stayed in the background and hoped that somehow Frost would come to our rescue.

AND HE DID -- GO BIG RED!!!

Well gosh doc, thanks, really.
As for MR, even Bo kept it interesting where I watched every game, cant say the same for MR.
I know here, we need different, ad TO was different, and hoped a pro set was that difference, and pulled for the kids and our coach, just like I did to a point for Bo.
Both wore out their capacities, and Im thankful theyre gone.
I remember my last days at BRR was arguing early on, worrying the program couldnt afford a change, and honestly, if SF wasnt truly what he is, which at the time, hed only won four or five of his thirteen last year, and being a second year coach, if he missed as our coach, we could end up another Minny, once great, way back in the day, as soon as plastic replaced leather, losing replaced wins at Minny.
 
I did not like the BC or MR hires - but I supported them and the team until it was clear they could not get it done. I was actually convinced Year 1 MR needed to go.

I supported the Bo hire - but turns out Scarlet DID have him pegged - I do recall her warnings about potential problems. Of course the real loose cannon was Carl but Bo didn't exactly keep a leash on Carl - T.O. had to bend his arm pretty hard to get Carl out of Lincoln.
