Mike Dawson replacement

It was me that posted the name first and I was just reporting what I had read elsewhere as the new name being mentioned. No clue where it came from for the person who posted it there to mention. I will go on record as saying I don't care if the new coach has ties to NU. I want someone will be able to work with Frost (so guessing someone HE knows), can teach, recruit and as was posted above, make the line mean and aggressive. So yeah, I guess I want it all. I will also go on record as saying I hope the new coach is in place by Spring Football.

I don't give a crap either if the coach has ties to NU. I trust the person making the hiring decision will make the right call!....Like i said earlier, just reading this mans bio - he seems like a very good coach.

Isn’t it a bit odd that no one has been named since spring training is coming shortly.
Surprising we don't have any strong rumors at least. The rumors out there seem like people speculating based off 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon. In this case, 7 degrees of Scott Frost.

Anyone consider Adam Carriker? He's never coached but has been coached for a long career

My feelings as well. NU ties only to the point of understanding NU's unique situation in dealing with the fishbowl and recruiting here, but I would like some staff connections in some shape or form. You can have a smorgasbord of coaching geniuses, but if they can't coordinate I think they will be come a pretty dysfunctional bunch. I'm not worried tho, Scott absolutely will not let that happen.

Tony Samuel. Previous coach at Nebraska. Former head coach. Currently at UNLV. Coached some decent guys at Nebraska.

Me too! The hands on coaching window is small enough the way it is. I'd really hate to shrink it further.

That said, I'll be really, really surprised if it isn't.

Absolutely not. At this level get a candidate who has a LOT of coaching experience and almost as important...recruiting experience.

Amen, 99!!!

That's been one of my pet peeves when it comes to hiring college football coaches at Nebraska. Like it is in every professional search, quality experience is important!

One of the reasons we lost our way after Osborne retired is that we ignored that very important fact. That's not to say that a newbie head coach or a newbie assistant can't ever succeed. But when you're talking about a high visibility, high-pressure Power 5 job like Nebraska, the odds are not in your favor.

I may end up eating crow but I would bet the farm that our new DL coach has A LOT of coaching experience and recruiting connections.

Funny there is not even a whisper about who the candidates might be

When SF is done coaching, he should consider a career in the CIA--he can obviously hire a staff that can keep a secret

GBR

Leaks come from support staff more often than other coaches. That makes the silence even more impressive.
Don't know if you remember Frost's first presser (announced as DONU's new HC? He was very ballsy, especially towards the media. Warned them that he would take no Baby Poop concerning Ashley and his new son (we still don't even know the kid's name, do we?). After what TO went through, I completely understood why Frost set the boundaries. My point, though, is he established himself as a "take no prisoners" kind of guy. I'm sure the support staff was told in no uncertain terms what would happen if they had "loose lips".
