Two takes:
1) Where do these rumors come from? Who gave Ben Albert's name to the interwebs for all of us ponder?

2) If it is true, I kinda like the notion of a position coach being considered who is outside the family.

It says that Frost is more interested in the right guy when it comes to a proven recruiter and teacher versus somebody who somebody on the staff knows who would get along with the other guys. One of the reasons for face-to-face interviews "in the real world" is because it gives everybody involved an opportunity to assess whether the candidate would be a good fit culturally or not.

This is an interesting take. Of our last 4 head coaches only 1 really decided to keep it in the family (solich 2002), and that was probably the best staff we have had up until now. As we witnessed with both Callahan and Riley's staffs, the further removed from husker history we get the less success the team has. Its quite the oddity.

When I was speaking about "in the family" with Frost, I was referring to the network of coaches who already have a relationship with Frost or the other coaches.

I'd have to research it, but my gut tells me that the vast majority of Callahan and Riley's staffs were "in the family" in the exact, same way that Solich's and Pelini's were.

That sure ain't unusual. I'm positive that the same is true for the vast majority of CFB head coaches when it comes to putting together their staffs. You trust who you know. But that doesn't mean it doesn't pay to sometimes pick a high-quality 'new face' who can bring a fresh perspective to the equation.

Just hire someone who can put the aggressiveness and nastiness back into our defensive line. Someone who's defensive line won't give up 3-400 yards rushing to any Wisconsin RB.

Just spitballing here, but how much do we really know about Bugeaters. Ben Albert incognito?????:evilgrin0007:

It was me that posted the name first and I was just reporting what I had read elsewhere as the new name being mentioned. No clue where it came from for the person who posted it there to mention. I will go on record as saying I don't care if the new coach has ties to NU. I want someone will be able to work with Frost (so guessing someone HE knows), can teach, recruit and as was posted above, make the line mean and aggressive. So yeah, I guess I want it all. I will also go on record as saying I hope the new coach is in place by Spring Football.
