Mark Whipple.

I’m mostly disappointed in the OLine— either we have recruited the wrong guys or our development is non-existent— or both

GBR
In reality, most of those guys have not had time to develop. When your line is made up of F and RF you can expect them to make mistakes.

OMG chicken little the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Did you see what we did???? We hired a coach who likes to pass the football!!!! His team last year averaged 77 plays per game and 40 of those were passes. Thats 3 more times than they ran the ball!!!!! Oh the horror. We hired a coach who improved his teams offensive output each of the 3 years he was there!!!!! OMG!!!!! The horror!!!! We hired a coach who more than doubled his teams scoring out put in 3 years....WTH are we thinking??? We hired a coach who called the plays for a team that went 10-2 this past season. WHAT??? He lost 2 games what are thinking??? We hired a coach who called the plays for a team that won their conference championship, and yes it might be the weakest conference of the Power 5 conferences but THEY WON IT. God forbid we hire someone who is winning championships.
Come on guys get a grip here. Give these guys a chance.

This appears on the surface as a good hire. Only time will tell. We need to win ball games period! If this guy can get it done running or passing makes no difference to me. I live smashmouth football but I also want great passing when we have to. If the OL sees a huge improvement then we will be fine.

Husker for Life. I just hope this works out. I tired of losing.

Damn 84 sometimes I think you just like to stir $h!t up. To be clear I'm really happy with the hire but very few here have expressed the attitude you just illustrated. Some (like myself) are pleased with the hire, some have reservations but are willing to "wait and see" and a very limited few have expressed your view above. Why not reply to them directly instead of this fake "sky is falling" narrative you are convinced we all share. It simply isn't true.

Its not everyone but its enough. These guys have been here less than 24 hours and we have guys who are cashing in next season. Thats a little ridiculous.

15 plays away from a 10 win season. If our new offensive staff can eliminate those 15 missteps they can flip those close losses into narrow victories.
Kicking game. Better kicker more FG and better field position...

Well, hopefully Frost got it all right. I could literally get a bunch of guys together and take this team to at least 4 wins next year and I’ve never coached a single play.

Wow people getting all kinds of fired up over rumors. No one confirmed yet and we have posters going nuts over this guy or that guy. Lets wait and see who actually gets hired before we get our panties all up in a bunch. Frost has already said they wont be making any major changes to the offense so whomever is hired is going to be running the same basic offense we have seen. Just relax and see what the new guy brings to the table. Might surprise you.

And honestly, what Frost needs to really make the running game work is a credible passing game, which he has not had with AM2 at QB. Who knows, we get a QB who can set, read the.defense, and find a receiver consistently so teams can't just load the box and spy the QB, we'll be alright. I personally would love to see Tom Osborne's as the base, but Frost ain't doing that so I'll just wait and see. And in reality, I don't give a hoot what type of offense we run, as long as it gains yards and more importantly scores points. The biggest question I have is: Will Frost actually give up the play-calliing duties? I don't think he will, but we'll see. On paper these seem to be good hires. We'll eventually see if they're good hires on the field.

When a former player voices these concerns, I personally think he has earned the right to espouse his opinion.

This is a message board and the way it works is that we are all entitled to post our opinions, even if those opinions don't agree with yours.

Frankly I haven't seen any posts as completely negative as what you posted but that's not unusual.

My feeling is that a lot of people are not thrilled by it and have said that, along with something along the lines of "we just need to wait and see how it plays out". How that can possibly be so upsetting to you is just mind boggling to me.

Any offense needs an O line to function. Who is our starting O line for next year and how are they going to keep our QB out of the ICU? Who are the men who will open holes for a run game? Ya can't scheme away bad O line play. Losing Jurgens is huge and I don't foresee the returning players suddenly being a top B1G line. Every offense is based on blocking. Does anyone see how Coach Whipple can produce with our Line?
Me neither
