Halloween Blackout

Us crotchety old toots don't like some of this crap, that is all.

That's fine. But the reality of the situation is that players on college football teams and those coming out of high school like the alt unis so we have them. I don't mind alt unis once or even twice a season, but any more than that and it's too much.

I'd personally like to see 1 game a season where we go all red unis and 1 game where we go all black. I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I really would like to see Nebraska go permanently to all red home unis.

What it really comes down to, IMO, is that the companies that make them (nike, etc) have found another way to get a LOT of $$$, both from the schools and fans. If all the schools would just not do the alternate uni's crap, the kids would learn that life goes on. A good lesson to learn at their age from where I sit. And sorry, what they've done to our helmet, even if for one game only, is freakin criminal;

It'll only get worse before it gets better. Next season, the red NEBRASKA across the front of the alternate black jerseys will be replaced by WEIRD WALLY'S USED CARS.

This line deserves a boatload of 'likes,' Uenth! :thumbsup:

The only thing I can add to this: If the Blackout game vs Washington isn't a night game, then that's moronically stupid. I mean what's the point of going Blackout just to have the game at 11am or 3pm? The Blackout game needs to be a night game under the lights. It gives the fans more time to properly "tailgate" and night games have a more raucous crowd.

I was okay with them --- until I saw the red script 'Huskers' on the sides of the helmet instead of our Red N.

You DON'T remove Michigan's wings, you DON'T remove Texas's Longhorn, you DON'T remove USC's Trojan, and you sure as hell DON'T remove our Husker N. :mad:

and..."you don't tug on Superman's cape...you don't spit into the wind...you don't pull the mask on the old lone ranger,....and you don't mess around with....the Huskers." :-)

Does Notre Dame have alt unis?

Yes. Probably been wearing them longer than NU...

I have been a strong opponent of Alternate Uniforms. I have been on record that I don't like them. The throwback type I can somewhat accept.

That said, I will get behind these (grudgingly) but only because the young man (or at least one of them) that had a major hand in the creation of the helmet is a friend of my sons and grew up just down the street from us.

Now, get off my lawn and quit messing with the uniforms.

The University needs to supply every student with one of these. $15 on Amazon.
Oh that would be awesome
If the Department can fork over money for cardboard signs for special sellout anniversary messages, seems to me they can reproduce cardboard cutouts of the Halloween film's villain for the student section.

A panoramic nighttime shot of a black stadium with an entire section of Michael Myers masks would be a TV moment that would garner the kind of next-day national attention the stadium volleyball game did.
