For those of you nostalgic for the Bo Days...

After a loss, a coach can reveal a lot about his character during his post-game presser simply by whether he uses the pronoun "we" or "they."

I watched it again and did a count. He said we 19 times and they 7 times, with 3 of them being singular. It actually didnt seem as bad the 2nd time around. He's clearly frustrated with a few players in general but never singled anyone out other than for praise "he did a nice job". It seems like the fire is still there but the rage is gone.

I’d agree with that assessment. He’s better at measuring his words these days. The passion is certainly there, but if I were his boss and Bo’s answer was “I don’t have any answers” then it would give me pause.

I've got no need to think about Bo's personality issues any more. He is who he is. As frustrating and dysfunctional as his time at NU was a times he still managed to win 9 or 10 every year which is not as easy as we all perhaps used to think it was.

Exactly. While he showed himself to not be the right guy for this program, he was a much better fit and a much better coach than a lot of people give him credit for. He just had a couple of critical flaws.

I still think he could end up being a very successful D1 coach - he needs some maturity (and a couple of secrets he was privy to at NU - running multiple stations and more/better emphasis in the weight room). Will he get there? Who knows? But if that press conference was any indication, he might be taking small steps in that direction.

Not sure he gets more chances.
He likes to rule the roost, so, recruiting wont be allowed to get where it needs to without his meddling.
A lot of assistants wont work like that, unless theyre young.
His us against the world antics, his those guys are terrible, they dont even like football antics wears off quicker than shine in a nfl harbaugh lockeroom.
His flexability in players, coaches, schemes and growth is so limited, they are exceptions.

That's like saying the Titanic was a much better ship than history gives her credit for. She just had a couple of critical iceberg holes.

Hate those ice berg holes.
Glad we have modern day ships that are almost indestructible with no iceberg holes.

I'm just grateful that engineers finally figured out that installing iceberg holes was a bad idea.
The guy who finally figured it out, one Seamus Frost got chewed and reamed by the then current head engineer, one Richard Mark Pelini, and how weak those ideas of change were.
But history has shown, Seamus had the abilities to remove holes, not create them, and thus, to right the ship.

Agree, think his best bet for Div 1 is as an assistant again.

Last year I was nostalgic for Bo. But since Riley was fired I'm not at all missing him. A few weeks ago Scott Frost hinted that he might have some players who weren't buying in. I don't think for a coach to do this is necessarily a bad thing.

If after x amount of years you are still saying this, your team, several times a year goes off the deep end and plays unrecognizable football by the HC, and plays down to the opposition, and doesnt play up to its own standards, add in one or more collapses with blowouts, Houston, we have a problem.
If those players arent riding pine, pushed off the team, getting dressed in a different lockeroom, its on the coach.

Bo does it his way - which is assuming a few studs can carry his team so he does not have to try too hard in recruiting - he'll "coach up" the rest. When those studs lay a turd....he is left holding the bag of poo.

Problem is, his studs graduated not long after leaving Nebraska.
Since, hes barely winning in his conference, and possibly losing.

I put that up there with Diacos defense at ND, who had 2 five stars, one three star, the rest highly rated four stars on it.
He became the instant star by just knowing how to use those stars, and is why okie picked him up, but both fail as a HC.

Its about the whole team, both sides of the ball, and it shows theres a problem with coaching when you tear into your qb on national tv, as the qb is or should always be, the heart of your program.
