Unfortunately the objects being thrown onto the field was from the student section.
Not surprising to me that it would be from the student section. These days, seems like those attitudes are prevalent, no matter where you are from. Parents, I think, adopt the attitude of kids will be kids and hope they get it out of their system, grow up, whatever. My parents, regardless of my age, were always willing to let me know when I was out of line and I was NEVER to old for corporal punishment.
Off topic but it still amuses me. I had turned 21 a few months before and had ETS'd from the Army. My ex, Jethro Bodine and I had moved to GI after we both got our discharges. I had the day off and was running my mother around town so she could pay utilities, buy groceries and what not. Traffic was miserable and we were on a deadline as I needed to pick up Jethro Bodine when he got off work. I was cursing several blue streaks for sure. I parked in front of Mom's house and before she got out of the car, she grabbed both of my hands and very earnestly told me that my language was atrocious and she "wanted to be proud of me in all aspects" and I forget what all else. Last remark she made, though, was that I was talking like a drunken sailor. Now I was 21 and had just gotten out of the Army so I was all full of myself and was pretty much a smart @ss 21 year old. I smiled sweetly at her as I replied, "Mom, I have partied with sober sailors and I have partied with drunken sailors and, trust me, there is no difference in their vocabulary at all." Well that didn't sit right with her and before I could react, her right hand connected very forcefully with my right face cheek and she very politely reminded me that she was still my mother and I would NEVER be too old for her to discipline me. Hardest thing I did was keep myself from laughing as that would have earned me another slap on the face. LOL! Did not make me clean up my mouth in the least.
Back on topic. I hope that the throwing crap on the field was a one and done for our students. Not a good look at all.
