If the biggest improvements come between game 1 and game 2, then we better look like world beaters on our next game. If not and we struggle?.. that will be a huge indicator of:

1. that not being a true concept
2. frost just simply doesn't know how to coach and needs to stay the hell outa the coordinators way.

We have to destory both North Dakota and Georgia Southern. Struggling to beat them doesn't count. If he loses to either one of them he'll be done IMO regradless of what our record is at that point.

When I was meaning 3-2 that's beating ND, GS, and Indiana. Or ND, GS, or OU. However 3-2 and beating OU, Indiana, and either ND or GS will not save his job. It may extend it another week after Indiana to see what happens, but he may also be fired. With the talent we have on this team and coaching staff we have they should never lose to teams like ND or GS. You just can't.

If he's 2-3 or worse after October 1st he's gone the next day. Even if one of those wins is against OU. 3-2 depends on who we lose too as to whether he'd be gone Oct 2nd. I really don't want another coaching change but if he isn't the answer then he isn't the answer and we need to move on once his buyout drops.
Yeah, I really don't want another coaching change either; but, there comes a point in time when you just have to make a change.

Man, this really blows. I had hopes of being nationally relevant the last year or two under Frost, with a chance at the playoffs, let alone this year, back when he was hired. Don't get me wrong, plenty of inexperience, but it didn't seem fathomable he would have been this horrid.

I said I was "over" this game in the chat, but I have been thinking about the game so I am definitely not over it. I keep coming back to that onside kick and how wtf it was. But even with the failed extra point, what I keep coming back to was how our offense just went away in the 2nd half as we racked up 3 and out after 3 and out. Thompson suddenly couldn't hit the broadside of the barn and the OL, while they did open a few holes at times, they were overall extremely weak and generated almost no push on NW's front seven the entire game.

This is Year 5. I concur with Votary that while Frost will not be fired tonight, I do also concur with tfree that he should be fired.

it's almost like..people have money riding on these games and influence is being applied to affect the outcome. i mean..who calls an onside in the third quarter when you're 11 points ahead? add to that..all that stuff that happened last season.

Its called adjustment, Fitz does it, we do not, remember that CU in Boulder? Lights out first half, nothing in the second. What was going on with the defense?

It's a simple game really, blocking and tackling.
I thought Grant showed he can play in this league. Give him a small hole and he got low and pushed for extra yards. When there was no hole and he was slowed in the backfield, nothing happened.
Northwestern put pressure on CT with a 4 man rush. Consistently. The few times they added a single blitzer. he went straight to the QB.
Tackling.
Don't get me started on tackling.
Okay, I'll start- we were all taught from our earliest introduction to football to get your head in front of the ballcarrier to avoid arm tackling.
Why was this technique abandoned (Ochaun was egregiously guilty). Open field tackling, keep your feet under your hips and don't leave your feet.
If we struggled to do this against what I believe is a mediocre NW squad, I shudder at Minnesota, Wiscy, and Iowa.

Big question for me is, who do you want to take over this program if he gets fired? I think at the end of the day we would still be facing these same problems whether it’s Scott or someone else. Look at Fitzgerald, he was at the bottom of the league for a very long time and only was it recently that he saw his teams climb to the top to only fall to the bottom again and vice versa. Ferentze was terrible for a long time and he only recently found success within the past 8-9 years. Bottom line is it’s not gonna happen overnight, it’s going to take time. Do I think we should move on from Scott, yes to a degree. I also don’t see where it benefits us if we are going to have the same results. There is a ton of new players on this team and they need to gel. We as a fan base need to be patient, and if it goes sideways this year, then we move on to someone else until someone sticks.

Frost should just stop talking altogether.
I believe that this is Scott Frost's shot at Trev Alberts, sports writers and pundits and fans who believe Frost needs to step aside and let someone else call plays and run the offense. He should have just said well I gave up play calling duties to run the team and this is what happened. There were times on the sideline he just looked like he wanted to take the headset and call plays. Then we saw what happened when he did.
There is no point in responding to every post about how I think Frost just doesn't have it to win. He has been a head coach 6 prior seasons and has 5 losing seasons. He isn't going to change.
Maybe John Cook can come be a part time coach with Frost. I know they are good friends and Cook is a mentor to Frost. Maybe he needs to bring the volleyball players to come and give rah rah speeches each game on how to win. Volleyball has top players and starters from the prior season leave all the time yet somehow they are successful each and every year.
It starts at the top. If Frost does not turn it around, he is gone in about 6 weeks.

@Justino, I never even thought of that. WOW! I can see that being true. Absolutely I can see that. Along with this I'm responsible for those 7 points comment. He probably doesn't realize that those 7 points were the reason for the team cratering and losing. What a self centered *****. Only thing he left out was "Trev made me bring in those offensive people and they are to blame, it's Trev's fault". I guess on his way out the door Frost will toss in a "the jokes on you guys, I made millions and am set for life" comment.

If Frost had either Pat Fitzgerald or Kirk Ferentz record over their first four years, his job would be safe.

Pat: 4-8; 6-6; 9-4; 8-5
Kirk: 1-10; 3-9; 7-5; 11-2
