Does Miles need to be worried?

Tim Miles is 97-97 after 6 years. 46-62 in conference. Tim Miles is not going to take this program to the next level. Extending his contract must mean we are happy with this level of performance.

And it means more money in a buyout. He's not going to accept lower terms of a buyout in case we fire him. If he's offered that then he may walk. Which is fine by me. We'll see what happens. I agree though, he's not going to take us to the next level.

Moos has Miles walking the plank with a 1 year extension. Probably the least desirable option in my opinion. Not sure what a recruit or possible assistant coach will think. Ah the joy of being a Nebraska basketball fan.

I think Moos had a tough call. NU basketball had their best season record wise in a long time. Would be tough for any A.D. to fire any coach after the season they had. It would've been better if they had had a losing season and we could've moved on from Miles. I think MIle is 97 and 97 since coming to NU! and a losing record in the conference! Not great results.

Yup- this is a prove it deal. I'd wager Moos also has more time to focus beyond football and told Miles as much.

Think the writing is on the wall for Moos only giving Miles a one year extension. Make the tournament next year or you're gone.

And yet he lost another coach and a recruit who is asking to be let out of his LOI to follow said coach. There is something with Miles that just rubs people the wrong way. Not sure what it is though.

By the same token he just posted the most conference wins since Née era? Sign of a possible breakout or more of a blunt reflection of program status if that's the best they have done?

His personality has given him more slack in the chain by being..... well, not a dick frankly.

If all Moos could gain was interest from an upcoming mid-major or an assistant from a power school he's better off leaving Miles in place IMO. I don't think there was real interest from Altman or any other name brand coach for that matter. Unfortunately Nebraska holds some rare ranking as a power school and it takes more time to change that than at other programs.

Well as bad as NU is in basketball. There would be coaches from power 5 conferences interested if the A.D. decides to fork out the money. Miles was given a reprieve because of their regullar season. Otherwise Miles was gone. No sense in firing a coach who went 22-11 overall. 13-5 in conference.

Exactly! For my money Moos was between a rock and a hard place at season's end. He had a coach with a good year.......and a poor past history. I think he did all he could do......give Tim a chance to prove he isn't a one (or two) year wonder. Miles' back is against the wall, but that is on him imo.

now that TO is back in the fold and supportive/active with the new FB staff, I think maybe his usual passive aggressive style is applying pressure to keep his hires intact in the name of doing things the oldschool way and giving them more time to germinate. Does Moos really want to end the honeymoon he has going with the fanbase by risking the possible scorn of the old man weighing in on the matters?..... Moos knows if the FB thing rights itself he has more cashe in the years to come.

Ummmm Yeah Moos is his own leader. T.O. isn't influenceny anything with Moos. We all knew Miles would be kept after the season NU had. First winning season in a while and 13-5 in the Big 10. If we had a losing or tied record then yes Miles was probably gone.

Considering that Jordy just transferred and he's only got one other player over 6'9 on the roster, probably.
