To go from so much momentum the second half of the year to a crash and burn finish is somewhat surprising. The fact there was all out campaigning for a place at the dance, then bitching about bracketologists and being "slapped in the face", to a road seeding in NIT, rumors of pending departures, oddly combined with an 8 day series on the "good ol' days" to kind of renew focus on what is possible. Its a new AD.... Should he be concerned? A month ago I would have said NO WAY, today I think its 50/50. Was he campaigning for a spot because his job was on the line?

thoughts?

wish UNK was here to give his $.02

Honestly I've never been a fan of Miles. Yes he has a great attitude and he did lead us to one dance. However it was gthe same result. We were #4 seed in the conference tourney and lost (to I believe Michiagan) and lost in the first round of the NCAA toruney. This year we lose in the 1st round of the tourney and then receive a #5 seed in the NIT. However I'm not sure we can get a significant upgrade fromt Miles though. We have the facilities and we still can't attract top shelp talent.

I think that having one of the winningest seasons in program history should allow him one more year.

However, if next year is a stinker it may be time to move on.

He will probably get another year. That's my guess. Because honestly going 13-5 in conference is tough to fire a coach. He's a point guard and a Big man away from turning the corner.

I'd bet a lot of money Miles will be back next year with some kind of assurances. As SUH said......you just don't fire a coach after the kind of season we experienced.......even with the ending we had. Also the arena was full enough to make everyone happy.....that never goes unnoticed by an AD. Moos let one coach go.......AD's don't like to make turnover a habit unless necessary. With all the turmoil in college basketball right now, running a clean program might not just look all that bad either.

I think this program can be turned around. Is Miles he one to do it? Four years ago I would have said yes. Two years ago I would have said no. Right now I'm not sure.

It looks like UNK hasn't been active in almost a year; he had one post in August of last year, but before that, it was last April when he was really around here.

Noted Nebrasketball insider Nick Bahe is speculating that Moos is working on things behind the scenes and slow playing Miles.

I'm hearing there's some smoke out there, in terms of both potential players and coaches leaving.

Miles does have attrition every year with coaches and players. I really don't get why he loses so many each year.
Me either. I know college basketball has become a very mobile product, but this trend at NU is a bit troublesome. Some continuity would certainly help the program out imo.

Moos couldn't be in a worse position imo. Good year........bad multiyear product. I guess that's why he gets the big bucks:wink:

I'll say this. Moos has been around a long time as an A.D. Whatever decision he makes I trust. I can't say that about the last 2 of 3 A.D.'s we had.

We know McViegh is leaving--Jordy? maybe--Copeland--it would be his 3rd school, and he would have to have his degree completed--Palmer--also his 3rd school and I just don't see him as an NBA pick--I really didn't see the bad body language at the end of this year that was obvious the year before

On the other hand, I thought NU would make the NCAA tournament, so my BBall knowledge severely is limited :ashamed0001:
