That whole "using disinfectants internally" thing doesn't sound so crazy now.
The reason we have little guy discussions on this topic is because so many media types are producing stories that are editorials and not based on facts. In my humble opinion we need revised criminal codes for those who knowingly lie and then print it or air it.
Ya know I saw a deal last night on tv that said there is a way to breath a vaporized medicine (disinfectant) for covid and that it was entering trials in a month or so.
Yes this is all the media's fault. Lets not blame the morons who are in charge of this cluster...

Pardon me if I'm a tad on the bitchy side this morning. Bathroom reno started. Only toilet is downstairs until they're done. No problem for me as I spend most of my waking hours down stairs in Sew & Sew anyway but hub has a hard time with the stairs. I did buy a cheap plastic urinal this morning to limit the number of trips he has to make. Also no shower until this is done. I'm thrilled about the concept of washing my hair in the tub. Yikes!
I know I'll be over the moon once they're done and we have a bathroom that's all fresh and fancied up a tad but right now it all blows large chunks!
Plus have a back ache from hell. Sure it's just stress from the reno but it all adds up. And, yes, Ricketts is a tool. I don't think you are jarhead but I'm pretty sure you and I are on opposite sides of the COVID-19 stuff.

I keep reading valiant's post over and over, and I don't see where he says "it's all the media's fault", nor do I read a denial of anyone else's culpability, but feel free to put words into his mouth......If you are blaming the morons in charge, that's fine because govt officials deserve some of it, in various areas. The responses by the states has been varied, so you should blame a large network of governors, mayors, and health dept districts all over the country, because that's where the authority resides for the responses to the pandemic.The media surely isn't all to blame, but that doesn't invalidate valiant's point at all, and if you are dismissive of his post because you don't think the media shapes public opinion, then I would suggest you are not being realistic......
Two things, first you listed a nice list of where we can start blame if we want. While the media might shape some opinion, those in power in our various government offices and departments are the ones to shape policy. They are the ones we elect to protect us. The media is not blameless. They have allowed themselves to reduce staff that had at least some ability to understand complex topics. Like science editors and reporters that had some background in said subjects. Whether you believe this pandemic is a hoax or is real and a disaster, you an look at local, state and federal government and decide where the blame lies. From letting the wrong messaging get out that made it look like it was bad and it wasn't to not taking it seriously and blowing the response. Either way and anything in between can be placed at the feet of the government.
Second thing:
This highlighted sentences is just ... I better not state what I really thing of this because I don't want to get into a fight. Again First Amendment.... who is going to be appointed to determine this??? I will volunteer to determine such things, but some may not like what I decide.

You know what, I think after this is all done we need to have an after action report. It needs to look at the virus from a scientific perspective and be fully peer reviewed by the best minds in the fields of science that would need to look at this. Then the response from federal, state and local levels all the way down to the local health departments and emergency management departments and hospitals and so forth. This will allow a 20/20 look at this event and help create new ways to deal with this kind of event and new technology to help mitigate it. Honestly I don't know what they would find but with the ability to look back at it we might gain some significant knowledge. I think Crazyhole might agree with this and others on here. Working to do what we can to mitigate the seasonal flu and other "viruses" can gain some knowledge by what has and has not worked here.
One thing that has not worked. We had no Winston Churchill type to point us in a direction and got the whole country to move in that direction together as a unified team. I don't care if you wanted less or more restrictions, that is immaterial. There has been no leadership at any level of government that has been able to have everyone on the same page. That lack of common cause would not have won us World War II and it has caused this pandemic response to be all over the place. Hell I could not get Toilet paper for a while. WTF. It is just some damn paper.
. Last I knew the State of Nebraska was sending non approved masks out to local government. The state's response was "well this is what we have..."
