Colorado Reaction

I agree with you if it is literally **ANY** other team. But sCUm? F them and the horse they rode in on. That team out west should get pelted with batteries, rocks, and worse. My hatred of sCUm burns hotter than all the stars in the universe combined. I detest sCUm because of of their former coach Bill McCartney back in the day. He made this game a hateful "rivalry." Plus sCUm "fans" are the most obnoxious, uninformed, and classless fan base out there. So no, with all due respect, sCUm, and their "fans" deserve worse than whatever it is they got. Put it another way, if I saw a sCUm fans on fire in the street, I'd put that fire out with gasoline.

I guess we're no better than them then if we can't rise above the pettiness that makes for bad fans.

Meh...

We are and should be better. But that's just me on my moral high horse.
Here's a comment from another friend on Facebook who was seated beside a young CU fan:

"I’ve been thinking a lot about this random young man I sat next to throughout the game yesterday. He was a lone CU fan in a sea of red who came here from Austin with his buddy who is a Husker fan. (He promised me he’s NOT a Longhorns fan.) A guy a few rows in front of us kept turning around and flipping him off all night long. A small group of fans behind us chanted annoying immature cheers (like what you might hear at a high school event) all night. The Husker student section now boos, even while The Pride of All Nebraska plays the visitors’ fight song . People threw trash (both verbal and actual) at the Buffs as they left the field. I loved the game, but I’m not really a fan of how the atmosphere of Memorial Stadium is shifting. I know other fans have done the same thing to us over the years. (I had a firecracker thrown near me during a bowl game parade once, so I really know.) I have always been proud of how we treat our guests in Lincoln. Call me old, but I really think it meant something that we were known for that. It’s part of what has made Memorial Stadium such a special place."

The sh*t behavior around him is Not Nebraska.

I went to Nebraska at Penn State in 2003 (I think) and their fans were the worst I've even seen. By a huge margin. My Mom was in tears and honestly I was one more insult from committing a murder. Since then, I have absolutely hated PSU. If you nuked Happy Valley, I'd laugh.

So I agree with Chris on this one, I don't want Husker fans to ever be seen in that same light.

I was there too, what a bunch of morons

Like I told Chris in another thread, for **ANY** other team, I 100 agree with you.

But for sCUm? We, as Nebraska fans, didn't start this culture of unbridled hatred. Former sCUm coach Bill McCartney started this fire and now they have to live with it. So whatever bad treatment our fans gave sCUm fans and players, I am 99% sure it wasn't enough.

I just hate them so much.

Not only did a former sCUm coach start this hate-fest, but so many of Colorado's players are dirty and try to injure Nebraska players. It is this culture of hatred, that they started, combined with dirty play, that fuels my intense animosity for those out west sCUmbags.
I think you've hit the crux of the issue 99. It reminds of the issue parents have with their children's friends. They always look at who they hang out with, because for better or worse, it will influence how their own children behave.

Make that the three of us, guys. (FYI, it was 2002) I suspect that night was an outlier but --- My God, the students (or student-age hoodlums) were out in force that night. Every Husker fan leaving the stadium got harassed -- I heard even the Chancellor's delegation got verbally assaulted. I never served but it was as close to a war zone as I ever want to be.

Over the course of my Husker fandom, I'd rank CU, Miami, Mizzou, and Wiscy fans in my all-time Worst Four, but the chaos that night outside of Beaver Stadium gives Penn State fans a dishonorable mention.

It's never a category I ever want to see anyone list Nebraska fans in. Keep it LOUD but keep it classy, Big Red.

Watched this whole video and it this was nothing but spin. Instead of crediting Nebraska for dominating on both sides of the lines they simply focused on how bad the Colorado lines were. In fact they did not have one complimentary thing to say about Nebraska or Rhule, their entire focus was on Colorado. They were making excuses for Deion not having the "dogs to hunt" because he is only in year 2, ummm Rhule was hired the same time as Deion but he has Nebraska trending in the opposite direction. Some people will ride the Deion hype train all the way off the cliff, good riddance!

Also, there will be a backlash as teams lose the week following us. No credit will go to Nebraska for the beating that was so physical they feel it the next week. The pundits will say our opponents are overrated.

It's been my experience that most nice people are nice because they expect to be treated nice back. When they are treated badly in return, they can be very unpleasant. You just don't want to piss off a nice person.

Yup, I'm nice as pie until you piss me off. If you continue to piss me off, you will find out just what lengths I will go to, all legally. Like my neighbor who decided she didn't need to tether her 100 pound greyhound mix (aggressive as hell BTW). I gave her umpteen chances and the final straw was when twice it was let out of the yard as I was walking by with one of our dogs. Animal Control lit a fire under her backside. We get along wonderfully now and I honestly consider her a friend. BTW, I think the crux of the problem was that her boyfriend at the time was a real tool. She kicked him out and her behavior changed almost instantly. Go Figure!

One thing I will say about sCUm is they brought the wood with their defense - over the line a few times but overall the played hard. It seemed as though sCUm's skill players tried - but the oline getting owned just made any consistency on offense impossible. I don't think the coaching is worth a turkey on offense either but that many new guys - tough ask. Rhule cleaned house in Lincoln too but he kept around most of the players that could help - look how many seniors we have that are major contributors vs sCUm.

I think something that is being overlooked is the fact that Neyor only 4 catches for 31 yards and Banks had 2 catches for 2 yards. If you would have been told that's all those two were going to get this game I think we all would have been pretty nervous about our chances.

I put the Philadelphia Eagles fans in that same category. They take pride in being A-holes.

I watched it as well, and I didn’t get the same impressions as you. It was two pros who were friends of Deion talking about CU. I just wanted to hear them crap on CU and the coaching staff, which they did plenty of. That they didn’t spend time praising NU makes perfect sense.
