I think you nailed it with what is is bold. There are several NAIA volleyball conferences (including my daughter's) that have moved their conference schedule and tournament to the spring, but are letting their members schedule whatever games they want this fall. However, they do not have TV contracts and grant of rights issues, so more autonomy is allowed. The only way for NU to do whatever it wants is to be an independent. We like having the money that the Big10 hands out for the TV contracts, so we have to play by the rules, even if the rules suck at times....I don't think any other P5 conference would let their teams do what Nebraska is trying to do by walking off the reservation and doing their own thing... the schools all have contracts... and there's that unresolved issue of "Grant of Rights."
And they get paid handsomely for it. We as fans may disagree but I suspect if any of us were commissioner we'd likely arrive at the same conclusions.

Word is that the commissioners weren't voting against NU per se - they voted to affirm what was already agreed to: that this season would only include conference games.
Guys it is a done deal, playing Chattanooga Saturday. Book it
Smart moveThis was Frost, Moos, and the rest forcing the conference's hand. Now when tOSU or any of the others need a makeup game to be eligible for the payoff, they won't be able to.

Our guys did exactly that."Those who live by the sword, die by the sword"
One would think anyone in a leadership position, that is successful mind you, would take the time to see the forest for the trees.
That is hilarious...yet true.
