Chattanooga, announce in the morning

The Big10 is going to reap what it sows. I'm ranted on this before, but just put yourself in the shoes of the guys from ABC or FOX. Next time you go in to negotiate media contracts with the conference wouldn't you keep this kind of thing in mind? Why give a guaranteed contract of (x) when the other party has proven in the past that they won't do everything possible to follow through on their end of the agreement? The conference brand is no longer a safe bet.

Good point. The next time contract renewals come around, the Networks should sign the SEC and Big12 to the bigger money deals. The networks now know that those conferences will make every effort to compete, while still caring for their athletes. Big10 teams are now and afterthought for this season and the Big10 network currently is a dead network with the sports anchors picking their nose for something to do....

Time to move on to NW.

On a side note, kudos to anyone here who either thought critically or was too skeptical to get their hopes up based on the uncorroborated posting of a newb. Especially one tooting his own horn Sir Yacht style.

I'd like to know what the vote was and explanation from each chancellor as to why they voted no. My lukewarm feeling about the Big Ten is rapidly becoming frigid.

Ive a feeling, the powers tht be in the Big felt forced to have a season to begin with.
This separation of large portions of their alum is only being exposed, something those in power prefer to hide.
Why academics fail to yield to fun doesnt show favorably towards this attitude they have with sports imo.
To get individual votes on record is only peeling that oion another layer, one the powers that be dont want exposed.

I don't think any other P5 conference would let their teams do what Nebraska is trying to do by walking off the reservation and doing their own thing... the schools all have contracts... and there's that unresolved issue of "Grant of Rights."

And they get paid handsomely for it. We as fans may disagree but I suspect if any of us were commissioner we'd likely arrive at the same conclusions.

I've tried to be open-minded about the B1G's stance given we ARE in the midst of a pandemic. But once the decision was made to play football, why turn down Nebraska's request to play this Saturday?

Yes, they all agreed to a conference-only schedule, but what would it have hurt to give Nebraska a game given the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of the Wisconsin game? It would have been a win - win - win for everybody.

It really does smack of the kind of vindictiveness that we became VERY familiar with seeing from the Big XII when it was announced we were leaving. I remain a strong supporter of Nebraska being in the B1G. But this decision really leaves a sour tastes in my mouth.

Word is that the commissioners weren't voting against NU per se - they voted to affirm what was already agreed to: that this season would only include conference games.

Our desire to play, stay unentangled from the politics residing within the Big is a positive sign for college sports, and is nothing but gold for Nebraska going forwards, as recruits and parents see our attempts and responses, to go about attempting to play, even bringing in a team with higher levels of Big requirements to play, removing the safety factor of questionable disagreement.

If other teams choose to go fishing due to cacellations, only brought on by condensing the season through delay at the start, this boxes the Big in.
Dont thin osu and possibly two other schools wont chime in if their numbers called.

There would have been multiple benefits for playing Chattanooga. But Warren didn't want to establish the precedent because he knows there will be more cancelled games and they'd have to approve every request if they approved this one.

Thanks for the info Chatt Husker. This spring, I'm sending my Samford Bulldogs after you, but until then, peace!

I have to think that Moos, Green and everyone else knew in their hearts that the B1G would almost surely turn down this request ... and... that it would be a great way to make the B1G CP committee and Kevin Warren look bad in the sporting press.

I LOVE IT.
