Bowl Game?

Bleech is all I have to say. They won't get that much extra practice and, fact is, their on-field performance doesn't leave them deserving a bowl game.

At least have a .500 record to even qualify for the 'effing' games. Otherwise it's an absolute joke.

Damn sis, who peed in your cornflakes? :p

And respectfully disagree. Those 15 extra practices equate to hundreds of additional reps at every position group.

In re: bowl game, it has nothing to do with "deserve." Because if deserve is the metric, then you're right, we don't.

But in this Covid messed up year, where it is a free year of eligibility and rules governing qualifications for a bowl game have been thrown out, if Coach Frost and the team are consistent with,

"...we just wanna play football..."

then it stands to logic they'd jump at the chance to play in a bowl game.

I touched on this already in another post but before we played Rutgers.
I basically said if we win leave the decision totally up to the players....if they are all in and want the extra work and game make it their deal.....let them take ownership of it....well we won and now Frost says Perdy much the same it's up to the players.
Somebody out there will invite us....and while I know were young and need the extra practice time....the players get none of the perks that normally come with the bowl system. All they wind up this year getting is extra work and an extra game....

I'm betting this bunch talks it over and wants to know first who we play and where....and if it's a game we stand even a slight chance at winning.....this team votes to play.

Now trouble with this is....the bowl system is and should be a reward for playing tough and having a winning season....
We have not played anywhere near as tough as we should have and we still own a losing record....that plus these guys have Perdy much been in lock down since this messed up season began.....you gotta know by now they could use a trip home to see friends and family if for no other reason than to just keep their sanity.

I'm glad I'm not the one making the decision but for my money as much as this pains me to say.....I say hang it up till spring....rest....plan....study.....and not just the players either....the staff needs time to rest and evaluate where were at....gotta find answers to our own problems....find ways to get our problems fixed.....find the type young players we gotta have to compete in the Big 10.....find a way to consistently run the ball and control the clock in this conference if you cant run the ball you in a heap o trouble.....so my advice is you go with the flow....and let the team take ownership of what happens from here on.

DOC HOLIDAY.
^^^^^^^^^This is where I'm at. I think some young players will benefit for more exposure to the game...……..but only if they want to be there.

I hope if they are invited to play they do. No matter the opponent or the destination. I really hope we get one more game. The experience for the young kids is crucial I believe.

I 100% concur.

Of course winning the game matters, but (as I said to @Uenth on a larger scale) those 15 extra practices equate to hundreds of additional reps at every position group which will be invaluable heading into Winter Conditioning and Spring Ball.

LOL, no one peed on my cheerios, cornflakes or anything else.

I just despise any sub .500 team going to a bowl game. When it's potentially the Huskers, that makes it that much worse (that we finished sub .500).

Someone pointed out earlier in this thread that it will be much less than 15 extra practices so it's not nearly as beneficial. And, if this season continues as it did much of the year, and it's another loss, that sets the team back to where they were before the Rutgers game.

I'd much rather call it a season and hope that we start the 2021 season off with butts in the stands and a Husker victory. As opposed to a meaningless bullshit bowl game that we can just as easily lose.

Bowl games (that we are likely to be invited to) are 10 days away so that translates to a whole lot less than 15 practices. I see a whole lot more negatives than positives out of a bowl game.

I guess my take is: We're guaranteed a losing record no matter what happens in a bowl game, so is there really any tangible difference between records of 4-5 vs 3-6?

If the team opts to not play, I'm good with it. But I think if they have an opportunity to play one more time, they should.

Absolutely not. I understand about the practices, covid, etc. but no, with 3 wins, NO team should be able to sniff a bowl game. What's the difference between cheerios and notre dame ? Cheerios belong in a bowl.

So I watched for a few moments Sam McKewon talking about the possibility of Nebraska going to a bowl game or not. So my question is, if extended a bowl invite, would/should Nebraska accept?

I say yes because I think this team needs all the practice and and reps they can get. Thoughts?

"CFP or Bust!"

I think people -players, coaches, fans - are tired of everything at this point. I won't be surprised if they decide not to do anything more this season.

I'd like to see another game so I'm hoping they decide they want to do it. But, it's not going to be 15 extra practices. It could be as few as 3-4 if they get the Guaranteed rate bowl in AZ.

Deserve to go?
In this crazy messed up year?
I thought we'd learned the pride before the fall thing already

Frost said he was leaving it up to the players in one breath and then turned around and said he's beat and pretty much had it for one year. So doesn't sound like he wants to go another day let alone another game.
He's had a rough year.
Pardon me if I don't feel sorry for a guy who made 6 million dollars this year to coach a team that finished last in the West with a 3-5 record.

I, for one, would like another opportunity to see this team get some more game experience and another win under their belts to help wash off the smell of this ugly season.

Frost described this team as "fighters." If you ask me, passing on a bowl game would be a funny way of showing it.

We will know the outcome sometime tomorrow...I'm perdy sure most of the guys have decided already what they wanna do so it shouldnt take long once we see who gets invited where...

Right now there are only 2 things I really hope happens between now and next Spring....
My #1. Dedrick Mills decides he can benefit from new strategy of coaching staff to Run the ball more and knows if he has a good full season his draft stock will skyrocket and he stays for one last season.

#2. As mentioned in #1 the staff finally see's the truth that if you have big truly offensive linemen on your offensive line and you have a one cut put his foot in the turf and go straight at them type Running Back who is big and tough enough to take a pounding....fast enough to outrun most linebackers....you are gonna win a bunch of games in the Big 10.

Nothing on this earth right now would make me any happier than to see the Cornhuskers ram all the crap that's been said and written and posted this year because we just wanted to play football.....shoved right down all those who bashed and cussed us every chance they got....media like Wilbon and Desmond Howard....that bald headed excuse for a lump of flesh out of a grave who honestly believes if your not SEC your nothing....and guys like these who just because they have a podium to scream from they think they know everything and their words matter....(when in all real world places the only ones they matter to is each other....no one in the country could care less what they say).....also to all those in the Big 10 who want to put us down or teach us a lesson.....

I know in my heart it's going to happen and when it does I will be here to see and hear how they squeal while we force the Division and Conference Trophies down their collective throats......

Happy Holidays
A wonderful and Covid free New Year.

Yep, all N on Mills returning, and stays healthy.
Also like the new kid from Georgia, right body type, has some tools.

Hearing they voted no bowl game. What a horrible look for a team that wanted to play so bad. Whatever, 2020. It's almost over!
