Bo is gone

I'm not sure there is a more stubborn man on the planet than Bo, and I think he'll have the same problems if he gets a HC gig somewhere else. He's a good coach and ran a clean program, which is saying something in College football today.

It's seems obvious he couldn't take the intense scrutiny from fans and media, so it might best for everyone involved to start fresh.

Now we'll see if the invisible man (ADSE) can get the right man and keep the program from falling completely off the map.

The two gentlemen talking about Bos firing on ESPN just asked who would want to come coach here knowing that 9 wins doesnt mean you keep your job. That 9 wins isnt good enough. Also said talk right now was to look at Craig Bohl, Scott Frost, Jerry Kill, Jim Macelean (sp?) and Al Golden.

Solly, you are not being fair. Even the outside world was starting to snicker at us for having Pelini on the sidelines. We were becoming a national joke and as a program with so much pride, having the world laughing at us and just accepting it is not an option. We may hire Dobber himself and continue to be a joke but at least we won't take it willingly.

"We"? "Us"?

Your continued use of these words in framing your assertions is certainly indicative of the mob mentality that has so undermined the program. Your comments regarding national perception are wildly over-stated, as any of the very few commentaries you could cite have been driven by the persistent and vicious criticisms leveled at this coach by the program's "fans".

Take what happens willingly, because the mob got its wish - just bite the pillow and think happy thoughts, because it's unlikely to be pleasant.

Fair has, really, nothing to do with price of tea in China.

If Solly is correct (a given, for me), then Harvey has stuck his needle-nose into shi* he knows next to nothing about, without a plan, and effectively chucked ADSE under the bus while he takes shelter in his ivory tower.

Frickin' guy is a toxin to the prgm, by choice.

This day is bull****.I hate to just come on here to flame but Perlman is the one that should be fired not Bo.All you Bo haters I hope are happy next year when we have a losing season and the best recruit we had decommits. Its bull**** and Im pissed.

I am going to take the optimistic approach here and think things will work out.

And to Solly, if Nebraska had played Michigan State and Wisconsin tough through the whole games (not just the 4th and 1st quarter respectively) and lost by a close margin, Bo would absolutely still be here.

As it stands now, in the two biggest games NU played this year they got embarrassed big time. Couple that with the other previous embarrassments in national spotlight games and well, it is evident this coaching staff could not be retained.

I wish Bo, his coaches, and their respective families all the best.

I am torn too. I wanted Bo to succeed in the worst way, but am more concerned the outside perception of NU. I do not want NU to be in the same spot as we were when Frank was fired where we couldn't get anyone to interview with us and have to settle.

Oh, that's pretty much a given, here.

Of course Harvey Perlman supports the decision - he made it, and wanted it since Osborne left.

Really curious how much input Eichorst even had in this.

By all accounts, there is no short list, and NU is once again flat-footed, starting the search today.

At least 3 recruits are gone, with several more departures ranging anywhere from very possible to almost certain. Count on a few transfers, as well.

We'll see how far this sets the program back, because it most certainly will.
Ugh. This is exactly what I didn't want to come here and read.

Great. Craig Bohl, whose head the mob called for in 2001, Frost, who is unlikely to take the job, and who would also be a first-time Head Coach, Jerry Kill, who absolutely will not take the job, Jim McElwain who's 22-16 at Colorado State, or Al Golden, who Pelini beat and who has a 50% winning percentage.

So it is the "Bo haters" fault this happened? I get that you are pissed. I was a tremendous supporter of Bo from the time he was hired, up to this season's game against Wisconsin. However, it was the outcome of that game which frankly was bull____. There is no logical way to rationalize it when your defense gives up 408 yards rushing to one player.

Whatever Solly. You are wrong more than you are right anymore. When having to listen to the announcers try to figure out what to talk about as Nebraska gets woodshedded again on prime time it is absolutely a national embarrassment. I've tried for 4 years to take you seriously when you try to put a finger on what plagues Bo's teams. First it was give Bo time to get his guys, then it was move to B10, then it was not enough player on field leadership. This year with nothing else to blame you went all player execution to defend Bo. You liked the guy and believed in him but it's clouding your judgement. Hopefully you'll be able to find a way to support the new guy.

Doesnt sound like the players are real happy about this either. Tommy Armstrong just had a tweet about this being the biggest mistake NU has made.
Next ESPN insiders says to look for NU to look for offensive minded coach and that Scott Frost is probably the most likely choice and that it will be hard for NU to get an established coach, with the way it is hard to recruit here, win here, and the expectations of the fans.

we are screwed for the next couple of years at least. This is the dumbest thing that could have been done. Count this recruiting class as gone. And who the hell is gonna want to coach here after the second time we did this. Hay, maybe Callahan can come back.

A member of Pelini's staff said an associate athletic director called assistants around 9 and informed them of a meeting at 11 a.m.

"It went bang-bang," the staff member said.

Efforts to reach Pelini were not immediately successful.

Players were clearly in shock by the announcement.

"Unreal. Bo believed in me and I 100% believed in him. Can't believe this..." tweeted sophomore wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp.

"Bo was the best coach I have ever had the pleasure to play under. Highest character, loyal, I could make a freakin list....." tweeted senior offensive guard Mike Moudy.

"Speechless..." tweeted former Husker Rex Burkhead.

Really? A high school coach? Unbelievable. That is where we are that you want to consider a high school coach? Junior college is bad enough but wow!

It's unlikely, but not unprecidented. Gus Malzahn, in a span of 6-7 years, when from a HS head coach to the National Title game.

"Wrong more than right", huh? Fine. Feel free to submit your own thoughts and analyses for everyone's consideration and critique.

It will be hilarious reading how players bear no responsibility for their play, or how execution isn't absolutely critical to success.

I'll always support this program. I've been doing so my entire life. I'll support the new staff.

I doubt you will, if the sledding gets tough, since you seem to think a 67-26 was so unbearable.
