I hate being the fly in the ointment, but I cannot find any stats on Betts, anyone got any ideas where I can find them?
Thanks I forgot he did not play last year
You can't say we've lost much when you look at his stats.
BUT...the loss of the long ball 'threat' we had with Betts may change the way a defense will play us.
Not just athletics - the time demand on college music students - essentially you go to class and go to music stuff - forget social and part time jobs - no time for that. My oldest lasted 1 year and tapped out. You can play in the marching band without being a music major - but if you are a music major the demands are significant. You better love it and have parents with ability to pay for the fact you will not be able to hold a part time job. Or pile up massive student load debt.As a former, and I mean very former, Division 1 college wrestler, I can understand the lack of want it anymore as much as anyone. It's so frigging hard and if you aren't totally committed, it's time to move on.
For the most part, college sports suck. You are supposed to be a student athlete but spend half your waking hours being an athlete, not a student. I very rarely felt healthy, always had something broken or bruised, and planned most of my activities around practice or matches.
I think football would be significantly easier than wrestling, and I say that as a dude who got to choose whether I would play football or wrestle in college. Having said that, it still sucks, especially if you aren't all in.
I wish Betts no ill will and applaud his ability to say I'm done. At his age and with his talent, that's got to be a damn hard decision.

I agree there are valid reasons to walk away. And i agree with ^^^^ this.If an athlete, or anyone for that matter, calls it quits because they are afraid of failure; or because they feel they will let others down; or because they don't want to put in the work; or because they can't find the fortitude to dig deep enough........then they are, imo, making a mistake that will impact them for many years to come.
