Basketball Coaching search..

First of all, Miles is still the HC of NU's BB team. I really expected that Moos would make an announcement today, if that was going to happen.

Second of all, there is no guarantee that Hoiberg will become DONU's new Head BB coach, should an opening arise.

I don't know what's about to happen, as far as coaching changes but so far there's no substance to any of these coaching changes stories, really rumors at this point.

With Hank Bounds resigning I think they may have prompted Moos to hold off on making an announcement about Miles.

That's logical and entirely reasonable. I expect that Miles will be gone but that's just my gut feelings. Until it happens, it's just rumor and conjecture, unfortunately.

It's interesting they'd let Bounds make his announcement before the news about Miles. Athletic announcements are speculated and watched like crazy and picked apart to please the masses. University president transitions are news, but the year transition it takes makes for less of a sudden impact.

"they'd let..."

No way - he's the head of the state's most important public institution with impact well beyond football both ecomonomically and socially.

The status of a BB coach in no way rises above the status of The U's leader's status.

Well, we can probably change to title of this thread to-- Coaching search....AS it happens. Or maybe in the past tense of --- Coaching search......as it happened.

Press conference at 4 pm. I'm not happy that TM is gone, but if you can hook an experienced coach like Hoiberg, that's a chance you should take. If that rumor does NOT come through, you try another midmajor coach who will probably be no worse than .500 *shrug*

I'm giving this one a "like" just because I know where you are coming from.:). Terminations are seldom fun, but if we are going to step up I think this one was necessary.

Odd thing is that I think we groomed Miles for the next school he goes to. I think they will be getting a better coach than we got 7 years ago. Depending on where he goes it would not surprise me to see him have a 60+% win rating.

I really wanted Miles to succeed here. He was a good representative for the University and had an infectious personality. But, it is time to change.

I didn't expect any less.....

From WOW TV.

Statement from Coach Tim Miles:
“Thank you to the University of Nebraska for a remarkable journey. It was a great honor to represent this University the past seven years. I am extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish during my tenure, most notably developing relationships with so many fantastic people associated with the Huskers.

“A special thank you and deep gratitude to our players and parents who have been with us and supported us over the years. Thanks to our coaches, legends, alumni and to all of the support staff who interact with our program on a daily basis and made the experience one I will always cherish.

“To the fans, students and supporters who make Pinnacle Bank Arena such an incredible venue, much respect and thank you as well.

“My family will always be cheering for the Huskers and look forward to seeing #Nebrasketball make history in the near future. GBR!”

I haven't read all 9 pages so I apologize if this name has been brought up already but...
Let's poach Central Florida again and go get Johnny Dawkins. He has always been one of my faves.
