B1G Officiating

They kept showing this play over and over in slo-mo (to see if the ball was caught) and I kept screaming at my TV set "where's the %$#&% flag for HOLDING???!?"
Perfect example of why I would love to see eyes above to correct missed calls. Correct call after review, no catch, but definitely defensive holding.

This evening I guess it's Wisconsin's turn to get screwed by the refs. A 60 yard kick return was just called back for a phantom hold. And once again, play by play guys couldn't even ignore the ridiculous call. It's getting bad.
Sorry save that for a team that gets screws every time and they could never make up for the holds they had and never were called. How many games and OT s have we lost to those bozos because they did not get called for holding.

Every play should be reviewed. and if there is an obvious hold it needs to be flagged.
PERIOD. Think of the evolution of the game with technology the last 10 years. Why is it okay for the booth to review the play where Neyor's knee is down and the ball is at the 4 inch line for 5 minutes but they have to put blinders on if pass interference or holding is called...or not called. It's stupid. 10 years ago, Neyor would have been awarded the touchdown 1000 times out of 1000.

Moot point... but more evidence of poor officiating.

Maybe not, maybe just gross incompetence. Have you seen the documentary on Tim Donaghy, the NBA ref who fixed games for years? It's not as improbable as you think. You would be surprised how easy it is for one ref to change the outcome of a game with just one or two suspicious calls. What is your explanation for a spot a clear 2 yards behind where it should have been today?

I'm watching this defensive battle with between Wisky and PSU. The phantom holding call gave Wisconsin the ball at their own 11-yard line instead of PSU 30. How is holding called when there is CLEARLY no holding?

View attachment 9192 We also got hosed when Neyor caught the deep sideline pass early in the game. They ruled correctly that he didn’t have possession when he hit the ground. But the announcers showed video of DB pulling Neyor’s jersey pretty hard before the ball got there. Announcers seemed amazed by the no call.

It isn't difficult, when looking at all the anecdotal evidence at once, to come to the conclusion that, despite being invited to join this conference, the powers that be absolutely hate Nebraska.

It won't change until officials are required to meet with the media and answer questions after games.

Why are officials shielded and immune from criticism? Why are coaches and players rebuked and/or fined if they complain about bad officiating?

And I 100 agree that officials should be held accountable.

Amen! It's time these refs are held publicly accountable for some of these horrific calls. These players work too hard to have some clown detract from their accomplishments. This is the second game when offensive pass interference was called on Nebraska and the replay showed nothing.

It's not just Nebraska, so I'm not whining about our bad calls only. Although I think the B1G has the worst officiating in the country, it's not just our league. The officials are interjecting themselves into these games like never before. If they had to be held publicly accountable for these decisions, I think you'd see fewer flags.

Its not that we need to see fewer flags its that we need to see the RIGHT flag, the right call. To many times we are seeing BS calls. Anticipation calls if you will. Maybe we need to bring in replay of interference calls like the NFL has.

Yes, Huusker is correct that officials need to be held accountable for their penalty calls, or the lack thereof. But you are also correct that we need to see flags, just the correct freakin' flags.

You know how many times I've rewound that tape to try and figure out where the block in the back happened? Still looking.
There should have been a flag when the entire FSU team rushed onto the field when we had one more play which would have been a chip shot
