All things Emmett

Emmett was in Lincoln last Thursday night.

Our 20 year old granddaughter is staying with us this summer and she got her picture taken with him at the Venue. She was dining out there with a couple friends and so was he. They had tables next to each other.

By all accounts, including Kara's, he's a class act.

Oh Emmett...what in the absolute hell????? Sock with sandals?????

No. Just NO!!!!!!!
It's called being a single guy. I imagine someday some young gal is going to knock some fashion sense into him. :)

I don't know how many times over the years Mrs Fumble stopped me on my way to run an errand or two with, "Oh My, you're not going out of the house dressed that way, are you??!?"

And listen, I am NOT saying Emmett Johnson needs to spend a fortune on clothes, but holy sh^^, he's a well to do athlete and the least he could do is dress in a manner than doesn't scream, "I'm homeless, do you have any spare change?"

I can imagine. LOL.

If I were to EVER date a man (I WOULD NEVER but for argument's sake) and he had the idea he was going to wear socks and sandals, instant break up. I would say,

"Okay, we're done. I will not allow you to smear my good name with your abominable 'fashion' choice."

Okay...clarification: For an athlete (regardless of the sport) coming out of practice where they're in like basketball shorts, a lycra or form fitting top, sweatshirt, etc, yeah socks with sandals, while not ideal, is somewhat on the acceptable side.

But my gawd, you're out at dinner, at what appears to be a fairly decent restaurant. Put just a modicum of thought and effort into your fit.

Disclaimer: I have no idea, and I freely admit, why this makes me so angry, but it does.

So, socks and sandals will keep the women from accosting me and asking if I want their number? Thanks for the tip.

I'm sure, somewhere out there, in the vast sea of single hetero women, there is at least one woman who has zero taste, no fashion sense, and whose judgment is bereft of good sense who would offer her phone number to you--your wearing socks with sandals notwithstanding.

This ^^ is meant to be funny, but reading it, it sounds mean.

Everyone needs a challenge. My wife has been trying to fashion educate me for over 40 years.

It happens to the best of us, myself included. I fear my wife is giving up. I smile when someone, Adam Carriiker for example, admits to the same gaffe. After changing multiple shirts, I usually ask for a few ‘acceptable’ options to pick from.

LOL. Okay one more OT take:

I confess my fashion sense hasn't always been the best, but even I have gotten the heebie-jeebies seeing middle-aged men on vacation wearing:

A polo shirt, short pants and sandals with black socks.

Ya know , after seeing the garb on the Oscars and other awards show where the girls dress provocatively you are doing just fine Doc. At least you arent leaving the house with just a jock strap on. Now bac to our normal bickering.

All of Emitt's attire speaks to current kid's fashion trends I guess And socks with sandals, crocs, slides etc. is a thing apparently. I've even seen some with socks and flip-flops; don't know if special socks were involved but I doubt it. My granddaughter recently bought these, which we refer to as "The Hooves.".

I find myself disparaging some of the kid's current fashion trends, hairstyles, et al...and then I think about how our parents must have felt back in the 60's, and realize I am officially an old curmudgeon :tongue0015:

Doc, my wife is a barefoot girl. Me, as soon as I hit the house my shoes come off and my slippers go on. Not a barefoot guy at all.
