All things Emmett

It is called development. If you look at EJ's stats. He went from 4.6 ypc in 23, to 5.1 ypc in 24, to 5.8 ypc in 25.

No one knows when the switch will turn on and a player becomes a force. He was also a better fit in Dana's offense.
Absolutely better under DH . No doubt. And clearly our number one back , but I felt like he was the season before , and he never got quality snaps . So who makes the call ? The OC ? Or the RB coach ? Did Dana elevate him or did Sat bury him ? Did our RB coach have a say at all ?

This question is easy to answer—go to the source.

EJ has high praise for his position coach but — while classy and closed-mouth — has made it clear he’s no fan of his former OC. If Rhule hadn’t brought in DH when he did, we’d have lost Emmitt for the 2025 season.

I agree he developed in Lincoln. Having Mark Whipple his first year was a throwaway RS year. Kind of "whatever" he was good in HS, but isn't big and strong, needs to fill out, thing to me. Ajay Allen was the Frosh that looked pretty exciting the little bit they gave him the ball. But after that with Satterfield, those were wasted years, he was so bad, Emmett was just one of many mistakes. Should have been playing a lot in '23, and was clearly our best back in '24. I totally agree with the earlier comments that without the OC change he would've transferred. Can't wait for him to get drafted, hope it's today to a great team.

One of his many strengths as a runner is that he's able to avoid most of the forceful collisions. Although I'm sure that's harder to do at the NFL level, I hope it means he can have a longer, injury-minimal career. Here's wishing EJ the very best!

I wish him the best. I still think he was fed a line of BS as far as where he was going to be drafted. I stand by my statement that he should have come back for another year, proven he was a great back, been in the Heisman conversation early enough to make a difference, pick up some hardware (Doak Walker, etc) and been a 1-2 round draft pick.

I'll confess, I'm with you, j d. But when you look at Emmitt's history, he's been underestimated and undervalued since he was a high school senior. I said this earlier, being a fifth rounder--with his CFB credentials, in the B1G no less--will be lighter fuel for his fire.

Honestly I think EJ was undervalued in this draft. He should've been 4th round or higher. Not 1st round. He's going to prove to folks just like Brock Purdy has done that he was undervalued by the scouts.

Looking forward to hearing reports out of Chief's camp on how EJ is doing. I suspect he'll excel.

Have to admit, after watching him in the spring game, and the Cincinnati game, told my son, not sure he could stand up to B10 play. My bad, and am happy to say. Can't wait to see him excel as a Chief, he's a triple threat. Not only running, but out of the backfield, but wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't work his way deep at times.
