5 Days until the first game of the 2026 season

Except for using the private jet telling everyone where he's at and not focusing on football.

Yeah really. He should be locked away in his office relentlessly studying film on all of our 2026 opponents. Watching film from 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021--I'll bet if he did that he'd find patterns to what our opponents did and that would help him project what they'll do against us. People are creatures of habit and the people on football teams are no different.

Shmoozing with the boosters, regrettably, is a part of his duties.

M-F watch film. Watch so much film you know what our opponents are going to do before they do it. Because that's what our opponents do to us.

S and S he can schmooze with the boosters.

Sorry, SUH, but ^^^^ feels like a grouchy old man post I might make.

For the record:
1) Twitter/instagram/tic toc is a part of our modern world--especially for Coach's target audience;
2) He's not the first Husker football coach with contracted jet hours for personal use; and
3) Everybody--even Husker football coaches--have a right to some free time.*

* And one could argue that all social media posts--football-related or not--are an extension of recruiting.
Nope. Not grouchy old man. Just a man who wants.his favorite teams coach to actually put his nose to the grindstone. He said that's the type of couch he was when he accepted the job. That's not what he's shown.

If we ever want to get better unde Rhule he needs to be in Lincoln around the team. Not flying everywhere around the country. And other former coaches maybe Frost but I know Pelini didn't and thst was one of his biggest gripes. He may have been able to utilize one late in his career but not one like Rhule has.

And yes all coaches are free to have personal time but when your team doesn't show marked improvement from one year to the next, then you aren't doing what you need to do to get your team as a perennial playoff contender.

It's what Cignetti does. He's all football 24/7. Yeah he takes breaks but I can tell you even on vacation he's thinking football and how he can be better.

I dunno, SUH. You sure sound like the grumpy old geezers I sometimes have breakfast with. I'm the youngster of the bunch :)

Whoa, my bad. I didn't know you have his daily schedule. ;)

Holy crap--you have Cignetti's work and play schedule too??!? Right down to how HE spends his vaca time compared to our guy?

I take it all back. YOU, my friend, grouse with serious knowledge! :) ;)

One thing I really like about Cignetti is the apparent research they do into the personality of his players before portal or recruiting. Sounds like he doesn't tolerate any cancer.
There's video out there if Cignetti explaining why his system is so successful. He makes all the final decisions on coaches and players. Which is how he keeps cancers from being in his locker room. He wants guys to be engaged and not waste their time. If they practice an hour and a half that's what they practice. Everyone is on the same page. He doesn't expect his coaches to be at the office as early or as long as he does. If their work is d0ne he wants them to go home. Honestly if you haven't seen videos of him being interviewed you should. It's all commonsense stuff that anyone can do but they choose not to. He doesn't host podcasts and travel around on a private jet everywhere.

Lol you are too funny. You don't need to know Rhules schedule as he posts himself travel different places on his social media accounts. Pretty ease to know he's not 100% all in.

As for knowledge...some have it, some don't. You be the judge.

Rather than escalate a dialectical discussion on Bo with Dr, Fumble, I'm going to get us thinking about the future.
Who are our top returning guys?
I noted Justin Evans a few posts ago.
Nyziah Hunter is high on my list.
Vincent Shavers has had little exposure by the local press. I think he's gonna shine.
Last year he started out as my least favorite player, but Pritchett has turned into a rock at OT. I'm team Pritchett now.
Who else is there? Is Jacory a top guy? What about TJ? Does anyone stand out in the defensive backfield?

I do believe we have the guys that can play and compete, that’s not the question. Do we have the coaches who can make the key adjustments at halftime? We have been a pretty decent 1st half team. Other teams seem to make adjustments and shut us down offensively and defensively. From my view, we fail to make adjustments to their adjustments as we watch game winning leads evaporate in the 2nd half.

I feel good about all of 'em, PD!

Thank goodness--I had to look up the word dialectical. :ashamed0001:

What I like about Cignetti is the confidence he displays on the sidelines on game day. He's well prepared and his team feeds off that confidence. Matt has not outcoached one opponent on game day in his 3 seasons here, and the Huskers have not won as an underdog in Matt's tenure either. When the going gets tough, Matt looks like Robert Plante on the sidelines. Dazed and confused.

I think I watched that video. Very impressive dude, although he seems a bit of a turd.
