2AM Rumor

I don't think we knew. He clearly was a good athlete with a live arm.....so the potential was there. I think he has improved in some areas but the turnovers and "slow blinking" moments - along with lack of "closing games" is a big part of why we don't win games after he racks up big stats.
There were a TON of posters on this board saying "Martinez just seems to have IT". his freshman year. Most were touting him to be a heisman contender. And nobody knows if Smothers has "IT" or not either.

I don't know if there were TONS of people saying AM would win a Heisman, but somebody had started a thread about it for sure. :tongue0015:

Martinez' frosh year was promising in the sense that we improved as the season progressed and although he looked like a freshman he had some strong skills. Normally you expect those freshman things to fade away and the skills to strengthen. That's the norm. I don't think anyone was really wrong in thinking he would be a strong honors candidate as his career progressed.

Heard a rumor he did not practice Thursday, might be on Logan "SHOWTIME" Smothers to guide us to win #4 and one step closer to bowl eligibility on the road against the Gophers. MN has a suspect pass defense so if Adrian is not at the helm hopefully we can still expose that weakness and the coaches don't abandon the pass to try and play it safe by keeping everything on the ground and making us one dimensional.
Adrian Martinez wasn't 100% healthy against Minnesota, but he will be this weekend

Well this story confirms all the rumors without a shadow of a doubt, Frost wont be attending the Mensa convention again this year.

I don't know what I said back then, nor is it relevant. What is relevant is what he's become. And that is an average QB with a propensity to turn the ball over, often at crucial points in the game.

I've been consistent. He's not IT.

I'll play 84. Doubt I used the term IT but I was very high on Martinez his freshman year. Great athlete with great skills. I also know I wasn't the only one talking Heisman in his future. But understand Scott Frost was still the Golden Boy and we all assumed 2AM would clean up those "freshman" mistakes. Three years later and Frost is on borrowed time and 2AM is still making "freshman" mistakes. No shame in saying I was wrong. Wish I wasn't. At this point we know what we have in Martinez. Nice stats and hole bunch of L's. Time to give Smothers a legit chance and see what he can do. As Bob Seger says it's time to Turn the Page.

Curious, those who want to L.S. 2 start, if he bombs, and stinks up the p[lace, do you still want HCSF fired? After all he would be satisfying the mob, possibly to the detriment of the team. But giving in to fans desires ( some any way )
I do think L.S should have started last game as A.M was injured

Ah, you know some want Smothers to get the nod, some want AM2 to start. It's a hard call to make. I'm thinking that, since AM2 is supposedly healthy, AM should start. However, if we're losing and AM2 pulls an AM2, Smothers should be put in the game. If we're laying a can of whoop ass on Purdue, Smothers needs to be put in. To my way of thinking, at some point in the game, Smothers should play. Win, lose or draw; Frost needs to be giving Smothers playing time but fine start AM2 and see which the wind is blowing with him.

If he plays and stinks that is also on Frost. Lack of player development, lack of recruiting, putting the fate of the program on the back of one very flawed quarterback.

There is no problem with this program that doesn't point directly back to Frost.

C'mon, Ohio, quit saying the obvious. Someone's feelings are liable to get upset.

so , you are saying that watching them in practice, over and over that he knows what QB to start. and doesn't need input from the peanut gallery, as its his decision to make ?
