2026 Season Previews, Predictions & Watch Lists

Could Nebraska be better on offense AND defense? Yes. Could they have the same or worse record? Yes. Comes down to schedule and special teams (which Rhule took a pretty large gamble on in terms of the coaches hired to coordinate ST). Trash ST = not winning close games. We'll see how it plays out but there is no denying replacing one of the best ST coordinators in college football with inexperienced coaches is a gamble.

Regarding the twit ATX posted in #27, The percentage chances for Nebraska to win those games pretty much lines up with my thoughts.

Although I would put our chances at beating Iowa a 1% because losing to Iowa is what we do now. Every. GD. Year. We. Lose. To. GDF. Iowa.

I think we get 9-10 wins this year.
W - Ohio, Bowling Green, ND,Mich St, Maryland, Washington, Illinois, Rutgers
Toss Up - Indiana, Oregon, Ohio St, Iowa

We may drop a game that we should win, but I think we get 2 of 4 of the toss up games, with one of those being Iowa.

I may be way off, but that is my prediction.

A little early but they are already coming so...

I would be quite happy to go 8-4 this coming season, and ecstatic to go 9-3. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be blindsided to go 6-6. I probably would guess that I should pick 7-5, but I just can't give up this early in the season.........I'm going to close my eyes and hold my nose and say 8-4.

I'd rather your prediction happens instead of mine.

If your prediction happens that is a definite sign of improvement. If my prediction happens, that means no real improvement and it's just more of the same mediocrity.

I refuse to go down the 'make a final w/l record prediction' rabbit hole. But I will make three predictions about this season:
  • Nebraska will upset a ranked opponent.
  • The Huskers will pull out a conference win in the fourth quarter or OT.
  • Nebraska will beat Iowa.

So he's conceding Indiana? I haven't minded his social posting until this. Every player associated with the team has to figure out how to wrap their minds around winning every game. I'm paraphrasing, but the US Hockey team in 1980, " If we play them 20 times, they're gonna win 19. But not today, Today WE WIN!"
Where is the mental toughness we so badly need? Can you imagine Tommy Frazier even allowing the possibility of losing to enter his mind?
