Newsweek link but I'm a MacBook idiot and can't get the linkies to work since I got my Mac.

Anyways, 12 more days until the portal closes.

Wonder how many more we will lose.
 
Good news is, I don't think anyone we would call crucial is leaving. I mean players that we're mostly in agreement like, "We *NEED* to keep this guy!" I don't think any of those types are hitting the Portal.
 
Cut your dead weight to make room for NIL additions. The nature of the game now.
 
Just saw that Michigan State has lost 40, I believe, to the portal so I'm thinking our number is nothing. The portal is just crazy though!

MSU's numbers are due to coaching change but still, yeesh!!!!
 
@Huskergod84 or @SUHnami ... Why is this a big loss? I genuinely am asking because nobody on our DL really wowed this year.

Even Williams Nwaneri was pretty ho-hum (but I know he's was only a redshirt freshman this year so some slack is warranted.)

Because of his experience. We can't continue to recruit folks with very little experience starting or otherwise. Also he had a great chance at being developed by our soon to be new DL coach.

KD should have been depth this year- a solid second string getting ready for his moment to shine next year. While our D was generally lousy up front, KD was often the best of the bunch. Another year to grow into the role and I believe he'll be really solid, maybe a star.
Same with Nwaneri. He's gonna be a good one. I hope he doesn't get itchy feet.

Davis was just a sophmore (same age as Nwaneri). He showed some flashes this year of being really good. UCLA game is one spot I would say he played very well.
 
Last I looked we were at 12 - so Davis was new plus a few others. Overall - these are not guys that had much playing time - and I would guess in more than a few cases - were advised to look at options elsewhere.
Iowa St was down to less than 20 players on their roster going into the portal opening - due to the coaching changes. That's crazy - not sure how they recover from that especially since I am sure they aren't a top level team in terms of NIL $$.
 
From what I am reading, we are still on the lower end of the spectrum. Unless something is done collectively, the only way that this train stops is if a good number of kids who go looking for cash opt to leave their scholarship behind, and then don't get picked up by another school, or have to settle for way more than they were making at their old gig (and I am hoping and praying that Raiola fits into this category).

Could you imagine having to explain to mom how/why you don't have a scholarship any longer for free school.

I was kinda wishing him the best , but I have changed a little on that . I guess if he is gonna leave without any class I hope he ends up in buffalo

We went to White Sands NP and Cruces over the weekend. Ever where we went, I was asking "Hey, do you know Husker 99? No luck.

Si Senor for lunch never disappoints. Food is a solid 8, but the atmosphere, chips and salsa, and the cinnamon sugar sopapillas makes it a must stop whenever we head south.
