$600m Stadium Renovation....

Yep, it doesn't sound good. I'm one of those East Stadium season ticket holders who might get a 'Sorry Charlie' email due the Memorial Stadium construction.

A few years ago I got bumped out of my totally-awesome, first-row-of-the-balcony seats I'd had for 20 years because I wasn't inclined to spend $4000 a year -- plus the cost of my tickets -- to keep 'em. Guess I'll wait and see what I hear in 2027.

We humans are funny creatures. The past couple of years I've debated whether or not to keep my seats--and ended up saying, 'Ooooookay, one more year.' But I'll be damned if those money-grubbing %$#^*%^@ try to kick my butt out!!! ;)

Ya know, I gave up season tickets for the Seahawks during a strike year when they forced us to watch sub players and I never went back. Love the Hawks but enough is enough, Today its a grand to do game day and tickets. I m retired, between going to a cold stadium or staying home and watching the game on TV you know who won.

I honestly do not understand taking out 15,000 seats. I do understand them wanting more comfortable seating but does it really need to be at the expense fo 15,000 seats? Memorial Stadium will be at its smallest since what, 1950? They cant use the excuse of the sellout streak because it is still going.

In order to properly renovate south stadium, yes. Otherwise what's the point? That part if the stadium has needed upgrades to it's infrastructure and bathrooms. One season isn't going to kill Husker fans. Those who receive the notice for 2027 will be able to renew their tickets for 2028. The bigger question is how much will seats cost? Sounds like they will be more expensive overall with the exception of the nose bleeds, etc.

FWIW, the bench seating numbers are ridiculous.

The average person attending games in 1923 must have been dwarfs compared to today's fans.

I go to the stadium early and rent two of those crappy seat-back chairs for an ungodly price for one reason only: To protect my ticket seat spaces!

Without them, you get squeezed to death.

Ya know the people around those with those stupid seat backs pay a penalty in discomfort, been there done that.

Which is a HUGE reason why they need chair back seating. If you attend all other sporting events pro or college they are chair back seating. I don't know if other college football stadiums have bench seating or not as I don't attend road games so I can't speak to.them but if the Husker AD wants to up the fan experience remove the bench seating for chair backs and sacrifice some seating capacity to elevate.the fan experience. That way you don't have to buy those crappy chair back rentals to save your seating space. ;)

Dang man the oomphy people won't ever get on their feet then.

Wasn't Jerry world the first stadium cost 1 Billion bucks? It an indoor stadium. Shows how much things have gone up just since then.

Teams are or will start to realize if you want the fans to come you have to make them want to come. Sitting on a hard bench freezing your butt off watching your team get waxed by another mediocre team is not a great fan experience. Winning ball games is though. And honestly until they start winning 8,9,10 games a year consistently, you could build a dome and the fan experience won't improve a whole lot if you are still losing games.

This is the kind of gobbledegook the administration is famous for.
So, did Rhule advocate for turf? Was there a conversation where he was told why he had to accept it? Mentioning Rhule was in a conversation without explaining the conversation tells me there's more to the story and this is an effort to get in front of it and later say it's been talked about and now we're done talking.
Turf equals bad
Grass equals good
Turf looks better is the only benefit.
Once again, we are handed Shite and told to like it.

I really dont see how turf or grass affects us as fans at all. We are there to watch the team and if its turf or grass wont change how you see them.

Injuries. I know I would rather play on grass than turf. All things being equal, a recruit will choose grass over turf, especially those who use their speed and agility as an advantage.
We were all set to start with the training fields and progressing to Memorial Stadium reverting back to grass. Rhule had mentioned a few times what a positive thing this was.
Non-football people have obviously been the decision makers.

Football is *supposed* to be played on grass and it is disappointing hearing NUAD say that Memorial Stadium will remain turf.
