RTDB!

No excuse, indisputable facts. Only you mention ONE RB. How about we create depth and pound it with a punishing running game?
Facts are, we did do it with one RB, thats why I pointed that out.
We have 3 now, plus backups close in talent to what we had.
And no passing game.
If you watched AMs highlight reel last year, he ran more because of O line breakdowns and coverages with no one open, more than his called plays.
Now thats not to say some of thats still not going to happen, but it should put him well behind a number one back, and he should have so gaudy pass numbers.
We had a walkon qb in this streak as well, so its a fact, we can run it, but it needs to be a complete offense, not one with holes all over and freshmen O linemen.
I agree with you , but dont agree you can easily take away what the team has earned, which is good because now that we have players, if were already getting that 200yds, we should be getting more.

I'll agree with you Northwood. AM has had a cruddy line. That being said his inability to see the field exaggerates the situation. Then add a questionable recieving corps and you get a four win squad that only beats the teams that are dogs.

We need:

1. A feature back who can get ~140 ypg.
2. A #2 back who can get ~50 ypg
3. Then a combo of sweeps, reverses, qb runs, etc for ~90 more.

If we can get that, and average ~250 ypg, we should be fine.

But what I really want to see is when we're having a game where the running game is clicking, stick with it. Pound the f*ing rock relentlessly. If there is no need to get fancy, why do it?

Because Scott can't help himself but try to pass on 1st and goal from the one. It's in his West Coast nature of doing FB.

Coaches know what they have. Coaches know what the other team has. If a coach doesn't feel confident in his OL, he's probably not going to trust them in a crucial situation.

I think Coach Frost now believes he has a BIG caliber OL and will put more emphasis on the run. (I might be reaching.)

He has struggled some seeing the field, but lets see how he plays with bigger 'windows' to throw into

You win the award for the the most irrelevant post in this thread.
I'm sure you think it's irrelevant,, as you don't understand it--take a look at Alabama--the current gold standard in CFB

In 2020,they ran for 180 YPG and passed for 350+

In 2019, they ran for 168 and passed for 362

In 2018,they ran for 184 and passed for 323

If you take the time to look it up, I'm sure the numbers are similar for Ohio State, Clemson, etc

My point is you can't win in CFB if you are one dimensional--you can't be as reliant on the run as many here suggest--you have to throw the ball and throw the ball effectively --Alabama has had the best RBs in CFB over the last 10 years and yet they gain almost 2x the yardage thru the air vs the ground

Talk is cheap. If Scott wants to show faith in his "new and improved OL?", he'll run it inside the 5.

You can be 1 dimensional, mostly, IF you have an OL that says, figuratively, we're running the ball and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

We haven't had OLs like that in years.
