Will there be Spring practice, Covid-19 vaccine

Cannot say -- only know that my brother was told specifically that he was not to donate for convalescent plasma again because and this is a direct quote: "You have very little antibiodies in your blood and we want you to keep everything that you have to protect you from another COVID-19 occurrence." I believe I posted a link sometime ago that the severity of your occurence has a direct correlation to how much antibiodies you have in your system. So with being asymptomatic, do I have any antibiodies in my system-- I don't know -- I would have to be tested to know. I believe that the link said that asymptomatic people have little or no antibiodies in their systems but that was several months ago so I'm not going to fall on my sword over it

I also know that Fauci said that even after getting your COVIDl-19 booster you still need to wear your mask. Partially because it is possible for those with the COVID-19 vaccines to infect those who have not yet had the vaccine. I don't understand the why and wherefore of that statement but that was what I read after Fauci's briefing yesterday.

This is just a guess, but after reading some of the stuff that came out of Japan a couple of months ago I'd bet that he probably had some cross immunity from being exposed to a different coronavirus recently.

There is no estimate of how many lives could have been saved if the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control – along with all of the many foundations and institutions who were more focused on the profit margin of vaccines and new drug therapies – would have explored the benefits of hydroxychloroquine in combating COVID-19.

It's funny you mention this. I believe you were in the military and you can probably confirm this, but I believe they innoculate you in boot camp for damn near everything. There's no telling what the heck are in those innoculations and yet you all survived pretty much unscathed. So I agree with you, get Vaccinated! It's not going to kill you. If it does there will be lawsuits up the Wazoo against the Govt and (eventhough Pfizer and Moderna supposedly can't be held liable) their names would be dragged through the mud if these things were bad enough to cause major harm to folks that they wouldn't even stay in business. They would lose every contract from then on out.

Yes, I absolutely was in the military, US Army from 1989-1993. Did a tour of Iraq via Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

And yes, in boot camp--when I went through, they give me literally every vaccination there was available.

......And probably some that weren't normally available. Hell, we have all probably already had the Covid-19, Covid-20, 21 vaccines....twice.......:D

Having antibodies is essential in fighting off the virus.
The amounts needed varies on the individual, as their immune system, age and even blood type all have small to varying effects on it ramping up in yoiur body.

The reports crazy mentioned goes along with this, weve all had the common cold, flu etc.
If we have a larger amount of certain antibodies from other covid virus, in combination of good health, and not in terms of what we consider good health, but good health in how our body responds to the virus.

We will likely find groups o people, even from same areas, that have a great ability to never get strong reactions from covid.

That may be but my doc has never said, oh now that you've had your flu shot, go hang around those folks with the flu to keep "your antibiodies at a high level". I've just never heard that espoused before and if there's a scientific basis, I'd like the link to read it. It just does NOT seem logical to me -- in fact it's the opposite of logical. Vaccines are designed to prevent you from exposure, just not intentional exposure. I'll never be down with not wearing my mask, trying to keep my antibiodies at their highest.

And for the next 100 days + or -, our President has requested that we all mask up. That makes sense to me. Won't work because there are way too may anti-maskers out there. If we could all do that one little thing it would give us our best chance of getting things under control, IMO. That and continue not allowing anyone into the country.

Whatever.

This link seems reasonable to me.

Antibodies and COVID-19: What you should know

Bottom line is that having the antibodies does not make you "Bulletproof" and you still need to wear your mask. Said nothing about being building up your antibodies as CH was talking about. Not discounting that theory, just can't find anything about it.
I believe the common flu we have today is a much mutated version of the spanish flu.
How does that line up?

Ok, then why the warnings of the bacterial soaps?
You elimate exposures, you weaken your immune system.
Youve said yourself, immunity lasts for x amount of days/months,
Why is that?

Heres another
Those whove had the virus are reacting in a negative way to the vaccine.
Why is that?
Normally, your body reacts and revs up til an intruder is destroyed.
Injecting such a large amount of 'safe' intruders makes your already ajusted immune system to way way way overreact, and thus those negative symptoms.

But, our cells have a 'memory' in them, those that survive over time remove the novel from the covid, or, it isnt new to them, some T cells, the ones that do most the fighting, have lived over a decade in people, and onceits there, and T cells equipped, they kill the virus from the get go, it never has a chance to explode in numbers in the body.

Much of this is well known, and if any link doesnt address this, yet goes on about wondering what, how long, are we safe etc, isnt a great source.

Now, I havnt read you link yet, I will, and no,not knocking something at all, let alone something i havnt read, just consider what Ive said.

Oh, and by the way, my questions are not personal attacks, if you think Im acting too strong in my words, had that happen once already, and am sorry I was misunderstood then, so wont be now

The common flu still kills people to this day, more young than covid does.
I believe the higher impacts of the common flu on the young vs covid may be understood.

After millions of generations and untold number of mutations, the flu acts more like covi to our young than covid does to our young.
No different than having to use stronger and stronger antibacterials as the bacterias adjust to the weaker ones.

I found another link that said that T cells and B cells (I believe) may do that -- it is unknown if that is happening. Too much is unknown and there simply is no science to back these theories up at this point.

Yes, immunity lasts for x number of days. I've also said that it depends on factors, some of which are unknown. Those folks who have had the strongest cases seem to have the strongest amount of antibodies. So, if you had a light case or were asymptomatic you have less or no immunity. The only way to know for certain is by getting your immunity tested and I also read that those tests have uncertain reliability.

So, by all means get your vaccine (I intend to as soon as I'm in the category authorized). Everyone will live their lives as they see fit. I just can't find the science to back the "Hey you've had it, expose yourself again to keep your antibodies at peak strength" theory. I will follow the President and Dr. Fauci's recommendation and social distance, wear a mask and keep my rear end at home unless it's absolutely necessary. Once vaccinated, I'll continue to mask up until we're told that we can leave the masks. I will be thrilled to be able to quit masking up. It's just not time yet.

As far as it not being a great link, I trust it. They are examining immunities in COVID-19 survivors and their length depends on variables, some that I've mentioned before. Just because you've had it does not mean that you are not going to get it again or that it will prevent you from getting one of these newer strains. It may or may not. It's simply too early to tell and that's the biggest reason to protect yourself from re-exposure or exposure to the new variants. It's kind of like playing Russian Roulette or chicken. Sooner or later, it's going to bite you in your ass.

Has a doctor ever told you a single thing about wearing a mask until covid?

I guess it's just kind of strange to me that we've all made it this long without thinking masks should be a permanent fixture in our society and we get along pretty well. This is just another virus, not terribly different than any other respiratory virus. In time it will be endemic and we'll barely even notice it, but it'll still be there.

As Crazy said, viruses come, viruses go, in severity.
I believe SARS is still around, and it makes covid look like a toy gun, so, this will likely be around for decades, when they decide its time to come out, then come out, but the bodies immune system is well known, and has been fighting these critters for millneum, just not sure when Fauci et all will teach some of the basics of this.

What makes a healthy immune system is constant exposure to viruses and bacteria that your body knows how to fight off. The less you allow yourself to be exposed, the more likely you'll have a bad reaction to something when you are. Think about the tribes in the Amazon basin and in the south pacific Islands that we are not allowed to interact with. Thats because something as simple as a strain of the common cold that might give you a runny nose is enough to kill them. They've been isolated from it so they're immune system hasn't been attuned to dealing with it.

Immune responses to viruses | British Society for Immunology
When a virus infects a person (host), it invades the cells of its host in order to survive and replicate. Once inside, the cells of the immune system cannot ‘see’ the virus and therefore do not know that the host cell is infected. To overcome this, cells employ a system that allows them to show other cells what is inside them – they use molecules called class I major histocompatibility complex proteins (or MHC class I, for short) to display pieces of protein from inside the cell upon the cell surface. If the cell is infected with a virus, these pieces of peptide will include fragments of proteins made by the virus.

A special cell of the immune system called a T cell circulates looking for infections. One type of T cell is called a cytotoxic T cell because it kills cells that are infected with viruses with toxic mediators. Cytotoxic T cells have specialised proteins on their surface that help them to recognise virally-infected cells. These proteins are called T cell receptors (TCRs). Each cytotoxic T cell has a TCR that can specifically recognise a particular antigenic peptide bound to an MHC molecule. If the T cell receptor detects a peptide from a virus, it warns its T cell of an infection. The T cell releases cytotoxic factors to kill the infected cell and, the

Not exactly true. Extremely aggressive viruses are much easier to get under control because they kill their hosts rapidly, losing the ability to mutate and pass on.
