COVID-19 in Central Nebraska

It's pretty much out now, so I will elaborate. On March 14th there was a Quicenara party at the Event Center in Doniphan with 500 in attendance. They now have multiple people who have tested positive. It is used as a Senior Center during the day. It is almost going to be impossible to do the contact tracking on it.

My prayers to all

Yeah, I love living in Central Nebraska. We had 6, which was bad enough. In two days, we have jumped to 15. Lots of gossip about the number of positives at JBS Swift, Hornady has 2, Chief 1, GI Clinic has 2 HCP's testing positive and someone else has 1 (forget who). I spent my day sewing masks for hub, myself, brothers, sis-in-laws and nephews to wear. Not as effective as the N-95 but better than having someone with COVID-19 sneezing on you at the store.

Can't wait to see how many more positive tests pop tomorrow (heavy snark alert).

Inhaling is the roblem for masks. Microbes likely won't pass through your masks, but the tiny eater droplets that are loaded with the virus,it should stop.
You need to make them washable, sterizeable.
Be sure towash your hand beforeandafter useetc.

Nothings 100%, but you've upped your odds by wesring them.

Our intent is to throw them in the wash every time I wear them. Actually, Trump administration is considering telling us we should wear masks. Yesterday he said scarfs are a good idea.

Your sentence about microbes and eater droplets doesn't make sense, BTW.

With 15 confirmed active cases and god knows how many unconfirmed, I'll take my chances with wearing masks.

Typo, meant water droplets. Not sure how good they are if it goes aerosol, but better than nothing.
Just dont touch your face, or your mask, and wash hands.
There's a chance you bring it home on the mask and hands.

Masks were put in washer as soon as we got home. Now clean and dry waiting our next trip to the store. I did the 30 second wash-up as soon as I got the washer started and again once the groceries were unloaded and put away. Every time I change projects, same drill. I did a short customer project today. Once I was finished, I disinfected my sewing machine and work area.

We are both being extremely conscienscous (misspelled I know) about this crap. I've been screaming from the rooftops from the beginning about how serious this Baby Poop is.

We have one infected health care worker at a nursing home or assisted living facility in Hall County and 6 private citizens in Hall County.

Rumors are still swirling about a lot of positive tests among the JBS Swift workers but only rumors at this point. So far the rumors have been right on the money though.

I let my food sit for two hours. If its something I want to eat right away, its two hours, no plastic.
Everything else goes in the cupboards or fridge and sits.

So CNHD reports that we went from 21 cases yesterday to 33 today. 1 in Merrick County, 2 in Hamilton County and the remaining in Hall County. Crazy Baby Poop indeed.

The President is now encouraging people to wear t-shirts or scarves covering their mouths when outside. It may protect you from others, it may protect others from you. Just don't try and get an N95. Save those for our HCP's please.

The masks are pretty easy to make. Takes me about 30 minutes to cut, iron, assemble and sew. Please wash them between wearings and also wash, wash, wash your hands. Minimum of 20 seconds and lather well. Pretend you are gearing up for surgery.

Please everyone take this seriously. What is ballooning up in the CNHD is unbelievable. Don't know if it's mostly coming from the Doniphan party or where. Doesn't matter, this shows you how effing important the social distancing is.

We have completely revamped our social distancing efforts and methods. Dispite not knowing anyone personally who has it, we are making every effort to comply with social distancing efforts. Of course much has been taken out of our hands.....i.e. most places are closed and visitation to those in assisted living is by phone, commputer. or outside a window......... but my wife has eliminated her PT sessions and the only public places we go are gas stations and grocery stores. Some business must happen, but we are taking precautions there as well.

A public party is completely irresponsible Imo. What are people thinking......Not only those who threw it, but those who attended. When we called to cancel earlier rsvps, we were always met with........."It is canceled anyway."

Wash hands, and stay safe people.

PS...........Handling money and credit cards are big red flags. Wash hands and wear gloves when possible.

Most places let me run my card, if they don't I'm disinfecting that sucker.

CNHD reported 9 new cases yesterday, among those nine are three health care workers in long care facilities, aka nursing homes. 2 in Grand Island and 1 in Aurora. My friend whose mother is in a long care facility told me, via email, that the place her mother is at does not want family visiting right now. I don't know if they are prohibiting visits, just that they "don't really want us visiting" at the moment. She's very close to her mother, always has been and her email didn't say if she was pressing the visitation issue or not.

The CDC did say yesterday that the general public is now being encouraged to wear home made masks. They are very easy to make -- I've been making them for my brothers and sisters-in-law. Take about 30 minutes from cutting to the last stitching. I encourage all my husker brothers and sisters to get hold of a mask and not an N95. I'm going to have to make myself another one as I'm constantly washing mine. Everytime I come in from an errand, it gets popped in the washer. We got our state tax refund yesterday so celebrated by getting take out. One of our favorite hang outs and is closing tonight until this crap is over with so they are no longer delivering. Mine was already in the dryer so I snatched hub's. His is too big for me but I was just sitting in the car and the woman who brought my order stayed as far back as she could so now his is going into the wash.

Other new guidance is that only one family member should shop for groceries. Hub is no longer going shopping as he's got diabetes and an auto immune deficiency -- it's like he's got two bulls-eyes on his back. I told him that he should make the list the night before. I'll get up early the next morning and drink a quick cup of coffee and then head out to Super Saver as they open at 6 AM. No shower and wear my clothes from the day before. Dash in and get whatever we need, come home and unload groceries, throw my clothes in the washer and then shower and put on clean clothes and that should make it "safer" and gawd, I'm really learning to hate the word "safe" but precautions are very necessary until we get this crap under control.

But yes, the huge birthday party in Doniphan was totally unnecessary and very irresponsible, IMO.

From today's Independent, 10 from GI JBS Swift has tested positive. So my sources are batting 1000.

To put a face on this, many of you might now Dan Naranjo, owner of All Faith's Funeral Home. Both my family and my in-laws have used All Faith's when our loved ones pass away. His father died on Thursday from COVID-19. First person in North Platte to be diagnosed and to pass away from COVID-19. After reading about Frank, I understand why Dan is the way he is (a high complement)>

Mother in law in an assisted living facility in Norfolk. They locked down with no visitors residents stay in their rooms, meals are delivered to them there, and workers are screened when getting to work. This all began very early, before any bars/restaurants were shut down. Pro-active was the right decision. No positive tests there yet.

Got an email from home depot, theyre open, water line breaks, electrics go wonky etc, essential.
Anyhow, their response is keep low numbers of customers in store, and each employee is temp checked before they go in the door. Similar to the so korean model.

Yup, it's basically one cart one person. I hate it when that one person is me. I don't know good celery from bad, or woody broccoli from non, and since I don't where everything is, I'm in there twice as long as I need to be. My wife shouldn't take all the risk tho so...............I'm learning :)
