Who still has confidence in this staff?

Oh, its time for show me, no doubt, and I think we will see it.

Question is, how much? People that are ticked at this staff were the first to point out, going from ofer to 13-0 like at ucf, just isnt possible in the Big.
Ok, no doubt, it's only been done once ever, but, how much are those cry babies expecting?
We will go bowling next year, put money on it, and ,I hate gambling.
8-4 would be fabulous. Anything less than 7-5 is going to leave me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Frost should tattoo 6-6 on his Adrian Martinez blowup doll because that's what this program is going to get with him as starting QB.

As a college wrestler, it disgusts me that a D1 QB could look that soft. Has he ever lifted a weight?

You both nailed it. It's like evaluating someone on lifetime achievement against a one hit wonder.

Now having said that, I really don't know who should be playing qb. AM really struggled on many levels this year, but I wasn't at the practices to know why he was still anointed.

Not to argue these points but - does LK just practice this one package all year or does he practice the play book ?? Any QC on the team should b able to enter any game with expectations of running the whole playbook not just certain packages.

Luke just got elevated to co number two when AM went down.
How much practice at what level and especially the players he will play with on saturdays is unknown, but I'm sure, have been in short supply til the end of the year.
Repition in practice has been the mantra, Luke hasn't had the same level of them.

Weak but true. Besides, SF didn't want to lose that red shirt, cause division, or more division on the team, and winning, is he going to then play AM in the bowl game? Or, lose the red shirt, possibly lose parts of the team, and, on short notice with no real history as to Lukes real abilities?
Kind of puts holes the opposite way of SF being hard headed, if he decided to go this route, but, of course, he didn't.
Tough call ahead if AM doesn't get better.

And I won't argue these points. The point I was trying to make, unsuccessfully, was that fans must be very careful about making judgements off of two different sample sizes. And that the coaches have had a larger sample size for which most of us weren't privy to.

I need to be careful not to come across like I think AM is the guy. I actually am not sure, and as I said, AM has given me doubts this year about his ability to make reads and quick decisions.

I also have a bias that I try to control. I love mobile quarterbacks that can throw.....on the run, and in the pocket. I enjoy a good scramble, and an occasional designed qb run. But my preference is not a running quarterback that is a fair thrower. I have doubts when too much is asked of one athlete, and without him disaster occurs....especially when such quarterbacks are not built for abuse and asked to run a lot. In short, when our qb is our leading rusher I worry about sustained success.

But that is my thing...…..and I try to keep it under control;)

Yep. I never said it wasn't but the play hinged on LM's ability to sell. To sell either the run or the pass. He sold the run and made Iowa pay for the mistake. It was a perfect play call. And he was the perfect person to execute it.
They also have no tape on him, but, they knew he was fast.
Oh, and the brother thing heheh

They had 2 1/2 quarters of tape on him form the Indiana game and 1 full quarter of the Maryland game as a QB and a few plays as a WR. So Yes when he was in the game he confused the heck out of Iowa. What the heck was he going to do? Run? Throw? Catch? This is why I'm confused he wasn't out there as a WR during the 4th quarter where even if he doesn't get any touches still has some Iowa defneder having to cover his speedy ass. LOL

He probably doesnt have many 'real' routes down, or, our own coaches had no tape on him at wide out ;)
But ,yea, have him run a couple he knows

Frost struck me in college as an arrogant douchebag. During his time coach
Well actually we don't know diddly squat. SF won't even let people know if AM is hurt or not. Must be the result of working for that jewel, Ron Prince.

I thought we had turned the corner second half of last season. Even our 5-7 could easily have been 3-9. It also could have been 7-5 or 8-4 with a little bit of luck. I can't even hazzard a guess as to what next season is going to shake out at. I would hope 6-6 or 7-5 but I just don't have a clue. Depends on if SF does a bit of soul searching during the off season and shakes up his coaching staff, also depends on if LM or AM is the starter.

What if, just what if, with the talent level on this team this year (and even last year), they actually exceeded their capabilities by winning 5 games and being in the close games that they lost? I realize that we Nebraska fans still have visions of years past, where not winning them all was considered unthinkable, but expecting this group of players to compete for a division championship may have been completely unreasonable and to the point that we fans are going to blame Frost and the coaches. I don't buy it. I think this team actually over achieved this year. A patchwork O'line, a disappointing performance by a nicked up QB (who may, at this point not be as good as he led us to believe he could be last year). A defense that played great at times and at other times got pushed around like middle schoolers. So don't insult my intelligence by telling me that Scott Frost is not winning because he is arrogant or needs to do some soul searching. With average players you have an average team. And in the case of the Huskers, for the last 3 seasons, a losing team.

Sounds like excuses being pushed on our coach to me.
I guess in for the long haul becomes the coach is arrogant, stubborn, irresponsible, ignorant towards his team etc etc when not meeting some standards connecting the long haul?

I didn't think there were standards, but we all think things arent looking that great, and if you notice they act like the team, the players coming in, the players already here wont make this team better, but they claim SF shouldnt ever say his guys, like somehow, every player needed is already here, the team wont get better, as if some are afraid to admit this is a very strong possibility.
So, they concoct excuse after excuse and lay them at SFs feet, in self diagnosed failures in year two of the long haul.

In the end, it's not important, but does take away much of the very positive future that lies ahead, as they wont,or cant, speak to it.

Anything is possible. But if that is true, that the team exceeded their capabilties, then the whole rating of recruits is a bunch of hog wash. Riley's classes had decent ratings, maybe even more than decent. They all start to meld into one after a while so pardon me for not being able to spout off exactly how the last 4 classes graded out.

I've always felt that the players have/had talent and for reasons I cannot explain have not played up to their talent level. While MR was coaching, it was obvious -- no time in the weight room and his laxadaisical attitude was picked up by the players. When SF took over, it seemed like he had worked that out of them and we had a more than decent showing the second half of last season. But whatever we gained in 2018, we seemed to lose it in 2019. Then all the talk of schisms in the locker room and hearing SF say, after losses, that it's because that these were not "his" players (referring to the Riley recruits) and that is why I say Frost needs to do some soul searching. That is just not good leadership.

So, we've now lost most of the Riley players. I know we still have some that will be seniors but the Juniors are a combo of Frost/Riley recruits and the Fresh and Soph will all be on Frost. In my mind, that excuse will not fly anymore. If we have another disastrous season, it will be because A) our talent level is not that great (which is on the staff to do a better job of recruiting) or B) our talent level is fine and it is a coaching issue. If we have a talent issue in 2020, I will be very disappointed if I hear SF state that during his post game pressers. I know TO didn't always have as much talent as he wanted but he found a way to get the team to play beyond what the recruiting gurus said. That is the mark of a great leader. Publicly deriding them is not. At the moment, my biggest complaint with our HC and why I say that he needs to do some soul searching during the off season.

If necessary, coaching changes will be made by Frost. I'm sure Moos will convince him, should Moos decide that some of the assistant's aren't cutting it.

Hoping for a much better 2020!

NWH, I am NOT saying that every player is already here. But it is NOT good leadership to point fingers, after a loss, at another coach's recruits. We all know that MR did not recruit the style that suits SF schemes. You gotta play with the hand you've been dealt. All I'm saying is that maybe, just maybe, without those comments there would have been more cohesiveness. The lack of cohesiveness was not a good thing and we will never know how that translated on the field. Also, maybe, just maybe, "his" players are thinking that if they screw up, Coach will publicly diss them and that is keeping them (or will keep them) from playing lights out. Human nature is a funny thing. No one wants to be publicly called out when they make a bone headed play, drop a pass, whatever.

It is the ONE trait of Frost's that I absolutely detest. Like some have said, he is still young (as a HC) and will learn. I'm hoping he learns soon that those comments can have a detrimental effect on the team in lots of ways he's not considering. Other issues, like coaching changes maybe or maybe not being needed, will work themselves out in the long run.

I think that we ALL want HCSF to succeed and I have not read one post calling for SF to be fired. Just people voicing their opinions.

Gawd, it is going to be an incredibly long off-season.

If you're not playing, embracing things the Nebraska way, the coaches way, then whats to be done?
If you've coached, befriended, all but coddled, whats left but the coddling?
This disconnect that's supposedly there isn't , but was LJ not one of the coaches guys when he was benched?
Who more than him not only responded, but also grew and, has the most to lose by graduating from a team and staff he clearly loves?
By saying his guys, its become something that wasn't ever meant to be, and by that, I mean the writers and some fans.
The team played the last three games like they should have all year, but they too responded.
So,all this gobbledeegook about how the team perceived what was said was only obviously embraced by them.

So, I'm not naive to think this made up creation actually existed, not after things were corrected for those sensitive types, which the young players pointed out to begin with,as well as Darrion.
Most the team knew what was meant, but, more importantly, why.

The why are things we will likely never know, but as history showed, it was more bark than bight, and I for one won't blow it out of proportion because in the end, the team started playing as it should have all year long, and it wasn't in spite of the staff, but because of it.

As for him to be fired, it reads more like, we arent ever going to win with him, we are forever doomed and the posters know this as a certainty.
Now, I guess anyone who's said this likes being abused by not saying he should be fired, if thats the exact words needed by some to think some posters despise having him as our coach.

I'm not on a side, and it sucks seeing fans jumping ship so early on imho.

Guys, this thread can go on for weeks. It might be best to just take a step back, take a deep breath and just say "that season fricken sucked" and move on. What happened is now the past and all that matters now is the future. Frost will determine this spring what the freshman will do to go along with the early arrivals for 2020 class and those already on the roster.

The focus now needs to be 100% on recruiting for the coaches and 100% on strength and conditioning for the returning players. But I know that if enough fans start bellyaching about Frost and the coaching staff things are not going to get better.

I would just add one point about the recruits: How many of Riley's 4 star recruits were still with the program going into this season? And where was our outstanding running back who couldn't get his act together? Attrition happens on all teams, but i do think some of the attrition we've had since Frost arrived has been pretty damaging. And if you count the high recruits in Frost's first two classes, would you expect championship level play from freshmen and RS freshmen?
